Hi Donna and Jack! Thanks for the comment on our page. I was searching for someone on the list and saw that you're in Boothbay. I now live in Arizona but used to have a cottage in Boothbay Harbor! I still miss it madly during each summer and am determined to move back there again someday. Jack is just adorable.
It's good to know. Honey is great and calm, I just haven't started the therapy thing yet. We began training at 8 months and then was discouraged to keep moving her up into therapy until she was older and now she's 2 1/2. I'm not as interested as I was. She loves quiet babies, children and adults.
Welcome to the Doodle Spring Training group Donna!
I hope you enjoy the program...please follow along with us by posting your thoughts/questions on various chapters in the discussions in the group.
Just wanted to say I looked at your most recent pictures of Jack. You certainly can tell that he and Emma are brother and sister! They look exactly alike and he is absolutely precious. I hope he's as sweet as his sister (and probably as fresh).
Donna, I have been savoring your recent response on the "LCL Family" Group. Jack exemplifies the purpose bred Australian Labradoodle. At five months he innately knows how to act as a therapy dog. I cried when I read that he heeled with the woman in the wheelchair. Oh, Jack, you shining star, may God continue to bless you as you help others.
As for the potty training, Emma is actually doing quite well. When she is confined in the kitchen/family room, she goes to the gate and kind of waits and when I ask if she "has to go potty," she will bark. Now that I'm giving her a bit more freedom, she will go to the front door and bark. Of course, I'm still very vigilant about asking her if she has to go potty even if she doesn't tell me, at least every couple of hours. I do think she's finally beginning to be more conscious of telling us but I still don't think she's ready to be trusted . . . . our poodle was housebroken very quickly, so yes, it is different, but I am being patient and feel that in another month or so, she should be pretty trustworthy (at least that's what I'm hoping for).
Hi Donna,
Jack is one handsome guy. I love his eyes! So glad you are here and that you joined our Log Cabin Family group. Perhaps you can share Jack's progress as a therapy dog with the group, and how you intend to join him with the talent you are already sharing at nursing homes.
