Love your posts Joan. Thanks for coming to Ft. Funston and sending all the pictures of the romp. Riley is beautiful. See you at the next romp. Thanks again.
Join us at Carmel Beach for Poodle Days in Carmel later this month if you are available. It is on Saturday, the 27th, and poodle mixes are welcome. You can take a look at the Smilebox on my page to get an idea of what goes on, but there is a parade at The Barnyard in the morning (interesting costumes and hairdos) and then a playday at the beach in the afternoon. I always bring my camera and have my own playday. Hope to see you there.
That is what we figure also - bonding time. Harpo actually jumps up onto the grooming table (36" high) and will stand as long as you are working on him. He is definitely a jumper. Groucho (the big tall guy) needs to be lifted. He is not a jumper. The practice is wonderful for both of you. Enjoy!
I'm glad you are thinking of doing your own grooming. I love his coat. I wanted to cord my ALD but he is a roller. He loves to roll in sand (on the beach, on a trail) and it is very hard to keep him clean. Since he shares our house (and sometimes our bed), he needs to be bathed frequently. We have always groomed him and I like Andis clippers. Mostly we scissors trim him but use the clippers for between his toes, on his belly, and around his face.
Regarding Riley's weight and height, I would say he sounds (and looks) perfect. My ALD is 24 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds. They are such energetic dogs. Enjoy!
Welcome Joan to the NorCal group at DoodleKisses, and also welcome to DoodleKisses as I see you are a rather new member. This is a great photo of Riley and I hope to get to meet him sometime at a doodle romp. We usually go to the ones in San Mateo, San Jose, and Carmel Beach. If you go to my page and click on my blogs there are some Smileboxes of the romps. I usually make Smileboxes and post them so everyone can see the doodles and people attending the romps.
Welcome to Doodlekisses Joan. Have fun meeting everyone and exploring a great site. Lots of great information. Make sure you check out all the various groups.
Welcome to Doodle Kisses Joan! You definitely picked the "best" Doggie for your first one:) They are so smart, loving, and very devoted to their families! This is the greatest site for information and fun! Check out the groups and discussions too! Have fun and enjoy:)
