Profile Information

About Me:
I am a mother of 3, kate (23, Hamilton (21) and Sebastian (18). We have had a dog in our family for 24 years. We said good bye to our last dog the past June.

Our neighbor’s have one of your dogs and he is THE SMARTEST dog I have ever met (and I grew up with German Shepherds, raised 2 Airedales, and helped train in my parent’s adopted Lab.) My neighbor’s dog is beyond smart. He’s gorgeous, well mannered and completely a love!

We are ready to open our doors to another dog.

Tim and I (the parents) are both very active. I am a personal trainer and Tim is a runner. Our kids are active as well and we are committed to giving a dog the best home and lots of love.

We are about to enter into the “empty nest” so we have lots of time to focus on a dog.

Our kids (Kate and Seb) are Home for the year but will both be going their own way with a job and Seb going to college. But while they are home, they will be helping with the dog.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We don’t have any dogs at the moment. We have never had cats but we did adopt 2 guinea pigs. They live in a separate room that is used as an office. I have completely dog proofed their cage.
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We are interested in a doodle for 2 reasons. My husband Tim and youndgest so , Sebastian, have slight allergies to dogs. (That’s why we had Airedales). The second reason is for the lack of shedding. Grooming helps and will be a priority as it was for our Airedale.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
With any of our dogs we have taken them for long walks, rides in the car, hiking when we can (when the weather is cooler) and we have a local dog park Karen has been wanted to go to for many months now.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Karen taught herself how to groom our last Airedale. But we have used PetSmart groomers in the past. We have also used a mobile groomer.
Favorite Doodle Products?
I LOVE dog toys. Our last Airedale had a lot of toys. Karen has even made some toys.
Relationship Status:
Married

OOPS - my boys. one is a shelter rescue, one a re-homed boy, and one purchased from a breeder.

I would love for you to have a doodle, but you need to know that as mixed breed dogs, there is lots of shedding and non-allergy friendly genes in their heritage.  I think the least allergy producing would be a multi (at least 4 or more) generation Australian Labradoodle.  Many feel that a first generation doodle bred back to a poodle (where the dog is 75% poodle (technically) is best.  You really need to research breeders and not take only any one person's word about their breeder having only non-shedding, allergy friendly dogs.

We have a Southern California Group that meets about once a month, usually at Arbor Dog Park in Seal Beach.  I'd love for you to come and meet with us and see the variety of doodle looks and sizes.

Here is a link to the next romp and our group.  Any one is welcome and any dog is welcome.  https://doodlekisses.com/group/southerncalgroup/forum/topics/doodle-romp-sunday-nov-18th

Here is a doodlekisses guide to finding a reputable breeder. There are more disreputable and puppy mill breeders out here than you think.   https://doodlekisses.com/notes/What_To_Look_for_In_a_Breeder
