What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Apricot F1 Female from Old Mill Doodles, Staunton VA. She was born the last week of January 2010 to Kane and Roxy. She was in a litter of 3 males and 6 females, and we had first pick of the females.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Last dog was a Golden Retriver, and the wife wanted something that was similar, but shed less.
Hey Lewis & Lindsay!! I know you guys are so excited to finally have your puppy! Harper is absolutely precious - and I love the name by the way! It had to be a tough decision trying to choose one out of SIX little beauties! At least there was only 3 when we went up to pick ours out! Kane is also the father of our 2 girls, but their mom was Kandy who was retired after their litter. Looking forward to meeting all 3 of you, maybe we will see you at the Easter parade!!
Hi Lewis and Lindsay....welcome to Doodlekisses. I trust that you are finding your way around the site alright. If you have any questions please ask. Glad to see you also joined our GRAD group. We get together often and we would love for you to join us sometime in the near future. I also have to OMD dogs. There are a lot in our group and I am sure you will find a sibling or two.
Went by Petsmart today and picked up two crates. We've got a long narrow 2-story, so we are thinking that using two crates is going to be the way to go starting out. The main/downstairs crate was a 2-door iCrate. The one we're going to use upstairs in our bedroom is a soft sided Port-A-Crate P2. The soft crate goes by a couple names depending on the retailer...Port-A-Crate P2 / Sof-Krate N2 they are all made by http://www.firstrax.net/.
We went up to on Saturday Feburary 27 to pick out one of the girls from Kane and Roxy's litter. They had 9 in all... 3 males and 6 females. When we got around to sending in our deposit, we had a choice of the blonde puppys from Lemmy that were a couple weeks old... or we had first pick of the 6 newborn females from Roxy. We went with the red/apricot colored puppies from Roxy. We got up to Staunton at 10:AM on Saturday. It was around 40 degrees or so outside. What you can see in our gallery are the six females that Valerie brought out to us. The front room to the kennel was still pretty chilly since it was separate from the rest of the kennel. It was hard at first trying to get a handle on trying to look at the girls individually. They all clumped together under the heat lamp. We only had a couple ideas going in for what to look for when picking out a puppy. But it literally took us 10 minutes to begin to see differences in them. One girl was slightly smaller than the rest. One was slightly larger. The other four were the same size. Two of the girls had longer faces, one girl had a flatter face. The other three were "in between" those two, I guess you could call it rounder. Since we had to start coming to a decision, we kept the three with rounder faces. Of those three, two were basically identical. We could never see a difference in those two. The third one was the slightly larger girl... and that is the one we finally picked.
