Lisa, I looked at the lakeview web page..it looks like they are vreeding doodles back to retrievers to get what they call an F1B,,,this is a very bad combination which has a good chance of resulting in flat coated, retriever like puppies. In addition, they are producing what they call "double doodles", breeding two F1's together, which is also a bad practice that can result in dogs that look like purebred poodles or purebred retrievers. It really doesn't look like they know what they are doing. There is also no mention at all of health testing on the parents. I would stay away from that.

Hi, Lisa. Re: the message you sent to the F1 group, the last name on your list (the one in NY) is a pet store/puppy mill. I have not heard of the others, but if I had to choose one based on the websites, I would go with the one in Oregon. make sure you SEE the results of all the health testing on the parents, in any case.

Hi Lisa. Cassidy and Bailey (much bigger than the picture now) are actually half sisters from a breeder in Kansas. Sharon "Dawgma" is also a member of this website. You can check her out at mywhatadoodle.com I researched quite a bit before adopting these two (2 years ago now) and everyone I contacted in the Capital District who dealt with Sharon seemed to be really happy. There's also a place in Claverack, NY (downriver from me, upriver from you), hudsondoodles.com if you're looking more local. He answered alot of my questions too. We really love both of our "doods" and our house just wouldn't be the same without them. They absolutely love swimming and when they can't get in our pool (their preference, of course), they make their way to the river and it's tough keeping them out of there when the weather's cold!! We had no trouble crating them and house training was a breeze. Cassidy even rang the bell on the back door when needed! Didn't mean to write a tome for you but let me know what you decide and how you make out. I also really enjoy reading this website; there's a lot of information out there. Good luck and keep me posted, Terri

lisa, i live in westchester and am getting a puppy tomorrow from paw pad doodles lin illinois. a friend got one from there and its a GREAT puppy. she had researched a lot of breeders before settling on paw pad . christine was great to work with and very patient in helping us (us new yorks can be kind of demanding, you know:)! all of her puppies are especially cute (if you look at her pictures posted you'll see what i mean). they also seem to be a little more consistent looking than some other breeders. there are a lot of paw pad puppies on this site so you can see what they look like too. she spent a lot of time going over their temperments with us as well so as to help us find the right puppy. good luck!

Welcome to doodlekisses, Lisaborny! I hope you enjoy our community :-) This is a great place to learn, share, brag about your doodle and make friends! We have many fun groups and interesting discussions going on all the time, however, BEFORE you get started, PLEASE READ this note to new members: http://doodlekisses.com/notes/Welcome_to_Doodle_Kisses! -- it will help you get to know our site and answer many questions! Enjoy!!!

P.S. If you're looking for a breeder, here is what I suggest:

1) Check out our Labradoodle Puppies for Sale group (and carefully look at the answers to the health testing questions of each sales ad!)

2) Check out our Owner Recommended Breeder group

3) If you see photos of an F1 labradoodle (our front page slide show will be ALL F1 labradoodles starting Thursday and go through next Wed) that you like, click on the photo and see which member it belongs to and ask that member about where they got THEIR labradoodle and if they would recommend their breeder.

4) Read this article to learn what health testing you should DEMAND proof of before you buy your next doodle: http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/potential-health-problems-in

Good luck in your search!
