Profile Information

About Me:
Gary and I live in sunny Leicestershire, England and I have two children - Holly and Noah.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Bonnie was born Christmas 2007 and is a lovely gentle natured black labradoodle. She has developed a brown muzzle and chocolate brown along her back. She has a long curly coat and is 25 inches to the shoulder. She is a big girl and weighs in at 67lbs. We decided to get her a friend and bought Mojo, a male goldendoodle who was born in April 2009. He is a gorgeous boy and they have really bonded well together. They are great fun to watch!
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
They are wonderful, happy social dogs, very intelligent, love company, clown around, easy to train, love being part of a family. We decided to get a golden doodle as our second dog partly as company for Bonnie but also to keep the same mix but in a slightly different form.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We live in the country and we love going for long walks across the fields and through the woods. I really enjoyed obedience classes with Bonnie and we now have a really good well trained dog. Also enjoy playing games in the garden which wears us all out!
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Wash and Wags in Barrow on Soar.
Favorite Doodle Products?
Loves squeaky toys in particular. Cardboard boxes, plastic drinks bottles, anything with treats inside. Gets easily bored so have to find novel and cheap ways of keeping her interested.

No I got the issue, BUT the vast majority of our members are NOT breeders and thus do NOT keep intact bitches and studs around, they all spay and neuter before puberty...so there aren't people except breeders with whom you'd find answers. In general in the US it's HIGHLY regarded as best to spay/neuter your dogs around 4-8 months unless you plan to breed. So the only members we have here who have intact dogs TEND to be those who are breeders. Hence, you may do best asking your question in a breeder's forum which I'll gladly give you the info on where to find it. But you did say you are planning to breed them LATER ... right?

Hi Lynnex!

Thanks for writing to me as there is no public group here in which breeding discussions are permitted.
I'm assuming you have full breeding rights from the breeder from where you got them AND they either are fully health tested (hips, eyes, vwd, DNA) or will be before breeding them? If you tell me more about your breeding plans/program plans (why are you breeding? what testing do you plan to do/have done? What is the background of these dogs, etc) then I will gladly allow you into the private breeding group we have on this site. Otherwise I will privately message you a link to a public discussion group just for doodle breeders where you might learn from other breeders as I am NOT a breeder and cannot advise you in this personally.

I noticed the picture of your pups when I was on the Doodle Health issues group page. I also have one black and one cream colored doodle. People are always amazed when they see a black one, as they didn't know they even existed as they mostly see the cream or golden colored ones. Just wanted to say Hi to a fellow black and cream colored Doodles owner and tell you how cute they are!

Hi Lynne & Bonnie, with airconditioning it is not too bad for them - we are running it 24/7 at the moment because it is soooo very hot. Lilly doesn't like the heat at all and Cassie being a baby 14 weeks today is oblivious to it just wants to have fun. We have a clam shell pool in the garden area for Cassie and when we are outside she spends a lot of time in and out of it.

What a pleasure these darlings bring to ones lives! Where is your mum in Perth, we are in the hills area so it runs around about 3 degrees hotter on these summer days, today in Perth it was 37 up here it was 40 - yuk!

Take care and I am sure we will see you again in the future

Hugs, tailwags and lots of licks,
Wyn, Lilly & Cassie

Congratulations to you and Bonnie. You are lucky to be able to take your doodle in Kennel club events. In the USA ( at least in California) we have to look hard to find an obedience event that will allow "non recognized breeds" to enter. We are hoping to change that! Again congratulations
