I am in my mid-fifties. A widow and mother of two grade-school age children. I raised miniature and medium Australian Labradoodles. My website is StargazerLabradoodles.com I absolutely and positively love labradoodles. I think they make my life so much richer.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have miniature and medium sized labradoodles - eight of them. Seven girls and one guy. They are spoiled and have ten wonderful acres to play on. I have so much fun with them. They keep me on my toes.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
My son has asthma and allergies. We were told he could have no pets and he desperately, desperately wanted a dog. The reason we got more than one was because he was so shy, painfully shy; but he would talk to anyone about his dog. Now he doesn't have a shy bone in his body and his favorite subject is still his dogs.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
I like to read with them - I know that sounds funny. But I love getting into my chair and having eight dogs laying around me while I read. I like walking the farm with them, watching them dash about.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Clippy Doo a mobile dog grooming service
Favorite Doodle Products?
Don't have one.

Single

Thank you for the information...sounds nteresting. Maybe when you get him we can figure it out. 6 months sounds great. wonder what is up with the husband thing-I have one of those! check it out and let me know. what does shipping cost? what would the adoption fee be? thanks again. Paige
Mary...I'm proud of you and your ethics as a breeder and a human being for how you are handling this rehome...What can we do to help?....I know I speak for Karen (who happens to be my personal idol), LynneNJ, Adina and many others.....
Hi Mary:
It touches me that your concerns for this rehome are for his well-being only...you are one of the good guys! I would suggest that you contact IDOG RRR
(rescue@idog.biz) for help in rehoming this puppy. They are the absolute best at screening prospective adopters and matching doodles with forever homes...you will not have to do a thing other than provide them with the info and keep him until they place him...they may even have good applications already on file. They are very careful about who they allow to adopt a dog. They will charge a modest adoption fee as a donation to IDOG, and they will have contracts stipulating that he must be returned to IDOG if given up for any reason.
You may also want to contact Jacque here at Doodle Kisses...she was "Back Porch labradoodles" but has recently changed over to breeding service dogs only and has changed her name. You can just enter "Jacque" in the member search to find her. She's in Northern CA, and has lots of experience with rescue and rehoming doodles, she may have some tips for you.
By all means, if you want to handle the screening process, etc., yourself, you can post on the "doodles in Need" discussion on "Rescued Doodles", but please be aware that you may have any type of not-so-educated person trying to adopt him, and you will have to do the screening, educating, contracts, etc., yourself. You may just want to start a discussion about this kind of situation there, too, and see what kinds of tips or advice you get. Maybe wait until you see what his issues are before deciding.
Thank you for being an ethical & conscientious doodle breeder!
Hi, Mary:
Got your message about your rehome puppy; this has been kind of a sticky issue for some of us in rescue. We have had breeders who have rehomed their "returned" puppies through IDOG for a modest adoption fee to IDOG, which are considered true 'rescues', and we have had the opposite extreme, where a breeder was reselling an 8-mo.-old returned puppy for the full purchase price-which has absolutely nothing at all to do with rescue. Many cases fall in-between. If you are going to resell him at a reduced price, that would probably fall under the "Labradoodle Puppies for Sale" group, and you would probably find the greatest response there, since many people would like to get a puppy but can't afford the full price. We are always concerned about these cases, because the next home for this guy really needs to be his last...many people have no idea how hard it is on the dogs. If you do want to work with a rescue group, we can post him on the "dogs in need" forum at Rescued Doodles. Once you know what his issues may be, we might also be able to help get the word out through a separate discussion on the "RD" group. I hope this is helpful...sorry that this has happened to you & the poor little guy.
Welcome friend Mary. Glad you discovered this site and immediately joined the "Labradoodles for Sale" group. I think you will love it here, the members are friendly and kind, and the information is plentiful. Post lots of pictures please! How is Miss Snowy doing?
