Profile Information

About Me:
I am married and have a beautiful daughter who just became a nurse. She gave me Roxie as an early Christmas present and followed that with a great birthday present this year Kirby, who could ask for more! I am an elementary special education teacher and absolutely love my job :)
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Roxie is an 3 yr old Apricot Doodle. Her mom was a F1 Labroodle and her dad a standard red poodle and Kirby is 1 year old, his mom was an Austrailan Labradoodle and his dad and FI Labradoodle. After looking at both of their records, we found out that Roxie's dad is Kirby's paternal grandfather.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I am a pet lover, my husband is very allergic. I love big dogs and fell in love with the labradoodle when I saw one. We found out that they were hypoallergenic and the rest is history!
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We love to play on the Belmar and Manasquan Beach or at the dog park in Montcalir. When we are not doing one of those two things, dad is playing frisbee and catch in the yard with Roxie and Kirby as I take a million pictures :)
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
They go to Studio Groomers in Montclair, they do a great job with her.
Favorite Doodle Products?
Frisbee, Frisbee, Frisbee and once in a while the glow in the dark ball.
Relationship Status:
Married

So sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.  It is so hard to lose a loved one around the holidays, but on the other hand, it is also better at that time because you have the family around you.  My infant daughter died on Dec. 23, and it is always there with me around the holidays.  But I make it through the day keeping busy and then it is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Beautiful dogs!

Hi, Rosemarie,

We also live in Nutley.  We have two ALDs.  We noticed that you have your Doodles groomed at Studio Groomers in Montclair.  Are you happy with them?  Do they crate the dogs?  Do you get a set time for your appointments or do you have to drop them off and leave them at the Groomers until they can take them?  Do they shave them?  If you don't mind sharing.....how much do you pay?  Thank you so much.

Hi Rosemarie! Your doodles are adorable.  Thank you so much for the offer to meet them.  Are you sure you don't mind?  We would love to meet them to see how our allergies respond to them.  Everyone on this site has been so helpful!  We really appreciate it!

I'm so glad they have bonded quickly. Our house is a wrestling ring for a large portion of the day so I can totally relate.

Hi! I just thought I'd check in to see how things are going with Kirby a few days in. I hope all is well!

Welcome to the Educators with Doodles group. Your puppy is beautiful. Enjoy this year in school. I like Special Ed classes and substitute in them as frequently as I can.

To be honest - 4 dogs is just a lot of dog laying around! Our dogs range in age and our oldest one is alpha - he has raised all of the others (including my son's dog) and as well as nurturing them he makes them mind! The only problem we have had is that our new dog is an adult and he and our Springer are not blending. Our alpha order is Simon - 11 year old lab mix, then Ned, and apparently Clancy then Gordie the 6 year old Springer; however there is still barking, growling and some confrontations by Clancy - only with Gordie. My DIL is staying with us right now and she has two whippets. Her female just turned a year and she has all of the boys letting her do whatever she wants. Her other whippet ((male age 5) put Clancy in his place once. All but Clancy were around since puppyhood.

I am so glad you were able to get the mats out! It is going to be a never ending process for a while at least. Roxie and Ned look like their coats are similar. We are going to get Ned a "summer cut" on Friday. I am kind of worried but our groomer is really great and we are on the same page so it should be fine. I would like him to be able to play more with our new dood without matting up.

How are you doing on de-matting Roxie? What products have you found to help you?

I will post a discussion on how to save a wool coat.
