Profile Information

About Me:: We are a family of 5 plus 1 dog and 2 pups. Our kids are 14, 11 and 10. Our dachshund is 13 1/2 and our new additions are 8 weeks old.

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!: We have 2 Golden Doodle litter mates. Born 3/10/18. A girl, Daytona and a boy, Denver. We have an older dachshund named Cheyenne (more like a cat).

Where did you get your doodle(s)?: Breeder

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?: 13 1/2 years ago I wanted a small dog, my husband wanted a larger dog. I also didn't want any shedding. So we compromised and got 2 puppies a dachshund and a Golden Doodle. Our Golden Doodle named Dakota passed last summer from cancer at the age of 12 1/2. She was a GREAT dog and we miss her every day. We decided to get another Golden and we called the same breeder. Our 2 new pups are the half great great niece and nephew from Dakota. We came home with 2 when a deposit fell through on the boy pup and we could see he was a "Velcro" dog.

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?: Right now, with our pups we like to play on the floor and watch as they start showing us their individual personalities.

With Dakota we spent many hours playing fetch.

Who grooms your doodle(s)?: In the past I shaved our Doodle when her hair was long because she would get so hot, not sure for the new pups yet.

Favorite Doodle Products?: I'm spoiling my new pups, so far nothing is standing out. If they decide they like fetch like Dakota did, I'm thinking a tennis ball launcher is in our future.

Relationship Status:: Married

Surviving Week One

Week One

So 2 puppies are definitely A LOT more work than 1 puppy, but so far we are still very happy we decided to get 2.

PROS:

They play with each other
Each have their own personality
Less fighting between the kids for puppy time
Hubby and I can each have a puppy
Cheyenne is becoming "alpha", sort of. They have learned to give her space

CONS:

Surprise we came home with litter mates

How did this happen?

I'll start at the beginning With Cheyenne (dachshund) and Dakota (Golden doodle).

Just over 13 years ago we decided we wanted a dog. Being that we were getting married in a few months (and had an 11 month old) we tried to compromise on a breed. I wanted a small dog (smaller poo!) and hubby wanted a golden doodle. We compromised and got a dachshund and a golden doodle.
