Hi. My name is Tina and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I live and own a private practice in Maryland, and work in two elementary schools in WV three days per week. I am looking to adopt a guy or girl who will be a therapy dog and who will be a part of our family. I don't mean an assistance dog, but a therapy dog. Like and assistance dog s/he would get a vest and go everywhere with me. The difference is that s/he would not have any responsibilities and could just enjoy lots of love and attention.
Thank you!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I do not yet have a doodle, but I'm working on it. I currently have a black lab/chow/husky mix and a black lab/chow mix. They are great dogs, but want to be outside all the time. They do not want to be inside.
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Generally, their temperaments are great and I like the idea of no shedding.

Welcome to Doodle Kisses, Tina! This is a fun and friendly community I'm sure you'll enjoy. Check out the ads in our two puppy sales groups to see which member breeders have litters available. There is no special criteria for breeders to be members, so you'll have to do this screening yourself, but each ad will at least list the health testing that that breeder does to get you started. And, if you would consider a rescue our rescue doodles group often posts listings of doodles other members find on petfinder. Good luck in your search...my dog Rosco is a therapy dog =)
Hey Tina, I think it's never to late to start good training with your dog. Take it day by day and see how it goes. I'm sure your dog will do great. I'm not sure of the rules and standards for therapy dogs where you live but in Canada you can only wear the vest if the CKC training and therapy training is completed.
