Hi Tom,
I agree with everything Karen said. We have so many nightmare health issues that we hear on this site. It is from Kennel breeders making loads of money but not putting anything into their dogs.
Another place to read about Goldendoodles and health issues from bad breeders in on Golddendoodles.com
I would also choose a breeder who is a member of a Good Breeder in Standing Group, such as GANA.
There is a great breeder in Michigan that I would LOVE to get my next dog from. Many of her dogs are members here.
Try looking at Cliberdoodles.com.
You could also call her and ask her about a GOOD breeder in your area. Breeders all know each other and strive for quality and health so if she is too far, ask her for recommendations.
Good Luck. Glad you are doing your homework.
Hi Tom,
I would stay away from the breeder you asked about. There is no mention of genetic health testing of the breeding dogs on the website, and unless you see proof of it, you simply should not purchase a puppy. The fact that they do not allow visitors is another red flag. The information they present about F1 Goldendoodles being low-to-non-shedding, and about "hybrid vigor" are misleading and false,
The fact that they promote Life's Abundance and Nu-Vet are other red flags. These are mediocre, over-priced products sold exclusively through a multi-level marketing program or "pyramid scheme", and the breeder gets commissions when you order them. If you do decide to go with this breeder (and I hope you won't), make sure that the 2 year warranty does not require you to buy the food & vitamins; this is what many not-so-reputable breeders do to make extra money.
