Irresponible and cruel

Earlier this year we took Rusty to the vet because he had hurt himself when he jumped straight up in the air after a fly. After Xrays and some painkillers we had a good talk to the vet and he told us Rusty had Arthritis in his spine and it was fusing and my husband asked if Rusty could have a good life with this condition. Well he blue up and talked about irresponible pet owners who wanted their pet put down for the wrong reasons. We assured him this was last thing we wanted to do, he calmed down and apologised profusely as he was still upset, and said he had just had a man in who had two beautiful Labs and he wanted them put down because he wanted to go on a holiday, now it was our turn to blow up with him this time. How unfeeling can a person be.

Many breed rescues in our area get calls all the time from vets who are asked to put down wonderful healthy dogs for the owner's convenience. Bless the vets who refuse to do such a hideous thing!

A vet in my town was asked to put a young dog down for similar reasons....When he suggested that the dog be rehomed the owner refused to even consider it!...The vet agreed to put the dog down but secretly kept the animal and rehomed him out of state.....

What a hideous creature the guy who owned the labradors must be. Some humans shuld be put down - thats for sure.
