Added note, you do not have to buy the cookbook to have your pictures, poems, recipes etc. considered and included!
I am compiling a celebration of dog pictures, homemade recipes for your dogs treats as well as favorite people recipes to go in the new cookbook my standard poodle Arlis and I are penning together. Arlis, naturally lacking opposable thumbs, has come to rely on me to do all the grunt work such as typing, research, and running to the store for bookmaking supplies.
It does seem to me that I am doing all the work but being a dog owner I am accustomed to doing what my dog wants me to do. I was quite delighted though when Arlis came up with this idea. I wish I had thought of it myself. Arlis just reminded me to stay on task so here goes.
Look through your picture files for good shots of your own dog (dogs with other pets or people) that you would like to be included in the cookbook
Arlis would like your own homemade tried and tested dog treat recipes. He was adamant that we also include family “people” recipes as well since he prefers people food. We already have some children’s artwork but have room to include more. We would like nice little jokes, dog sayings, etc also. Any interesting stories regarding the recipe are welcomed too.
If you have a poem of your own or wish to remember a soul you have lost, we would love to include it as well.
Send to cavapoos@aol.com
Please indicate in subject matter/header “Cookbook submission” so I can find your email if it winds up in my spam folder. You may also send work by USPS. Include a SASE if you wish to get it back. Please include necessary ID, pet’s name, kids name’s, etc. so I can credit it. Don’t forget your pet’s name and address so you get their gifts if included in the cookbook.
Those entries that are included in the cookbook will receive a treat bag filled with goodies such as rawhides and maybe even toys or balls.
I am shooting for a deadline of November 30th and publishing/mailing time of mid December for Christmas deliveries.
Oh, another thing, Arlis insisted that he be pictured on the cover of the cookbook. I was able to over ride that demand and decided to feature a picture of your own dog on the cover. He will just have to get over it.
The price of the cookbook with your dog on the cover is yet to be determined. It will be perfect for club logos and fund raisers as well.
