Zen will be 8 months old on the 28th of October, and I can hardly believe it! It feels like only yesterday he was a tiny little puppy, and now he is a DOG! I am amazed at how he has changed my life in such a short time. He entered my life 6 months ago when I was grieving a 10 year relationship with a rottweiler mix who had been my best friend for those10 years (almost to the day), and I don't think I knew how much I was grieving. Being with Zen has allowed me to grieve, as I move forward with a fun new friend. I started my journey with Zen with a list of "I wants", like: ,"I want a big dog", my last dog was 110 lbs, this one may be 60 lbs, (the cutest 60 lbs you ever saw); I wanted a friendly dog, my last dog was somewhat aggressive (and that effects the way you live your life), this one has never met anyone he doesn't like, 2 legged or 4 legged; I wanted a dog I could love like I loved the last one, it is hard to compare a 6 month relationship with a 10 year relationship but this guy has provided me an anxiety-free, loving, joyful existance I did not know before.
I am a Registered Nurse and a Licensed MassageTherapist, my vocation involves taking care of people, making physical, spiritual, and emotional connections with people. It is curious to me that given my vocation, some of my strongest connections are with non-humans, Zen, and his predecesor, Scooter (the Rotty). They have taught me more about love, forgiveness, living in (and appreciating) the present than any human ever has done. I love the people in my life, and I suspect that many of you on this site know about the connection of which I speak, an equally strong connection, the connection with a dog. I was guided (by my guardian angel, my spirit, my intuition) to pick a doodle, and I am oh so glad I did. There is something about this dog's spirit that I hear you all talk about, that my friends talk about, that complete strangers sense in him, something magical! I suspect I named him well, he is peace, he is serenity, he is joy, he is my friend, my entertainment on this path, and we have just taken the first step in thousands to come!
