I cannot tell a lie – when my head hit the pillow Monday night, I said a little prayer asking to hear a thunderstorm in the morning. When I woke, I did my best rain dance EVER as I sauntered over towards the window. The streets were dog-bone dry…
As we returned from our morning walk, a few raindrops started to hit my shoulder, nothing worthy of any rain gear, but my immediate thought was… “Oh well! it’s raining, we can’t go!”
No “one on one” agility training at Olde Towne Pet Resort for us. How sad…
I was really struggling to find some ounce of enthusiasm or eagerness after our last session(AGILITY TRAINING – REMEDIAL TUTORING) to return. But I had “nada.” I’m not a quitter, but this was a challenge. Neither Leo nor I were very interested (yes I consulted him!) in going back. For over an hour I wrestled with “to go or not to go.” And believe me, that really was “the question!”
I convinced myself this sudden change in commitment was mostly due to the weather. Surely if it was raining four drops every ten minutes here, maybe there was a huge storm where I was headed, and the area would be soggy and muddy and unfit for a doodle and his parent. So I called them to verify. Absolutely no rain on that side of town, and I had no plan “B”, so we moved out as originally scheduled – UGH!
Camp counselor Litzy volunteered to help us. My day was getting better with this pawtastic surprise because Leo adores her…
She assured me he could do this. She said she wanted to walk him through the course once and suggested I watch…
Another fan of The Boys (Kathy) offered to spot Leo as he “high stepped” the narrow board…
Leo was having no problems whatsoever…
“A” frame? ——- piece of cake…
Hurdles? —– walk in the park…
Tire? —– right through it…

Even though we ran through the course over, and over, and over again – we didn’t take the leash off. Perhaps this Saturday we will be ready for that phase of the training. For right now though, I will continue to practice the commands we’ve learned together.
I am once again enchanted with the idea of “Leo & Me” training time together.
We’ve even got a new theme song (Patti LaBelle):“I’m feelin’ good from my head to my shoes. Know where I’m goin’ and I know what to do. I tied it up my point of view – we got a new Doodletude!”
As always, thanks so much for reading, and no matter what happens, I’ll let you know …

Thanks everyone for your continued support as Leo and I try to master this dog gone thing! Since the weather cancelled our Saturday, we plan to go back on Tuesday to see if we can continue with our own little practice. I can't allow Mr. Rain to set us back from how far we've come - HA! Keep checking in - we love sharing
