We made the move to the downstairs pen! I also started solid food today and didn't have to ask them twice. Usually you have to coax a little to convince them that eating food is a good thing, but these guys dove in with both feet--literally!
They were a bit unnerved by the move to the big pen after being in their closed-in whelping box, but everyone found the attached crate and are now sound asleep. This is the first time Rio and Mattie have seen the puppies--Rio was so excited! I think Mattie was amazed when she saw me make four trips with two pups each time --she was probably starting to wonder just how many puppies were going to come out of that room!
Lyric was very good about it--she blocked Rio a bit, but otherwise tolerated his sniffing through the pen walls--the puppies thought Rio was very interesting too--I am looking forward to more fun times with all the dogs together. It is hard to believe that my 18 inch, 34 pound Rio was that small just 9 months ago.
More pics soon!

Yeah, I think I need a bigger crate--oops!
Rio is in the bigger crate but doesn't really need it anymore, so I may switch it over to the puppy pen as soon as they can no longer all squeeze into this one.
I am looking at these photos and seeing how much dirt is on that crate--the flash has made it show up! I am going to go get it clean right now! I leant this pen/crate set-up to a couple with a new puppy that had no money for a crate and they left it outside the entire summer--I thought it was cleaner than it is--yuck!
By the way, Rio is a half-brother to these guys!
