The excessive heat in Washington DC area has really put a damper on Maisy's activities!  She seems to slow down as it is when summer arrives, but with temperatures in the 100's in recent days, I have had to cut back on Maisy's walks.  The worst part about this is not the lack of activity...yes, she is now getting on everyone's nerves in the house with her pent-up-energy-filled outbursts, but the worst part is the look she gives me when she knows it should be time for our walk.  She almost looks depressed, and sometimes she looks as if she thinks she did something wrong!  I am SO ready for the heat wave to be over so we can get back to our routine and Maisy can be a happy girl again!

Same thing at our house=guilt trip! We try to take them for car rides and to the pet stores.

Webber, Seda and I went to the camera store and the feed/plant store today to get out of the house and still keep away from the heat.  It's extremely hot in North Carolina.  Tomorrow we have a play date inside a friend's house with her goldendoodle.  Lowes is good for exercise.  My doods just like to ride in the car!  The airconditioning in there is better than in the house!

We have been going to the river and playing fetch in the water, as long as their wet they don't seem to mind...

I take Jack to Petsmart like Laurie, I bring him anywhere he can go that is cool enough for me to breathe, I also walk him at midnight... I am up it is cooler and I can walk in my PJS and no one see's me.

I am only doing one, one mile walk a day, I notice Jack is chewing on his bones more and finding other ways to get his energy out, I also sit on one side of my house and throw toys to the other end, this way he can run around.

My neighbor does not care, (unlike me) about how many dogs are in her house so sometimes we go over there and the dogs go to town running up and down the stairs.

Try some new training tricks or something, they say mental stimulation makes them tired too,

I hear ya!!!! We've been doing 3-4 walks per day because of this heat. That seems to work out fine...for Lola AND us!!! We took her to the school yesterday played about 25min of fetch, and she was completely OUT for the rest of the night!!! They're calling for storms today/tonight here in Ontario, so hopefully it'll cool things down a bit! Good luck!

What about taking her to a nearby Petsmart, Lowes, or Home Depot and walking around inside. I still have been walking my dogs in this heat, but our walks are so much shorter. The only good thing is that one small walk wears them out for a long time :) Hope for Maisy's sake, the heat lets up soon!
