do you know this breeder?

i am looking at a puppy from gleneden located in berryville, clarke county va. has anyone heard of this breeder? i am looking for recommendations. thanks christine

There is a group of Gleneden owners here on Doodle Kisses. While I can't recommend the breeder personally (because I have not gotten a dog there), you might want to join that group on here to ask questions. Also as Joanne said...check out our article on What to Look for In a Breeder (she provided the link below). It's a VERY GOOD (I'm biased, I wrote the article!) checklist by which to measure a breeder. Ask those questions of the breeders you are considering and see what you find out. Also check out our group for Owner Recommended Breeders (all of these groups are on our groups page found among the tabs at the top of any page on this site).

#1 thing to find out about any breeder is whether they do health testing and what their health warranty and get proof of this - this separates the backyard breeders and puppy mills from the rest (USUALLY...always exceptions).

NEXT -- meet the breeder, talk to past buyers, meet the parent dogs. No point in getting all these positive references if the breeder doesn't health test, etc. And no point in a breeder that looks good on paper (health tests) if past buyers have bad experiences there or puppies are raised in a barn with no socialization, etc.

Gotta get BOTH sides: The facts no how pups are bred/what you get as a buyer AND good references.

I did go to this website. It states: Five generation pedigrees on both parents are provided with each sale and puppies are sold with care and training instructions, vaccination and health records, and a written sales agreement/ health warranty (available upon request).
I did not see and possible I missed that genetic testing is done by this breeder. Please read about health testing in the link I provided below. Ask this breeder if they have tested for hip, eyes, etc.
