Doodle's first swim...kind of!

Bernie just finished up with all his shots about a week ago, so it's been a big tease walking along the water every day - for us both! Well, he was being such a good boy on our walk today, calm, responsive, I decided to introduce him to the water. Plus, being about 70 out I knew he'd dry quick if we ran around for a bit when we were done!

It was so funny! If anyone reads this I'd love to hear about your Doodle's first water experience!

At first Bernie was scared of the tiny waves crashing up, the tide was coming in. He'd sneak up to the edge, then jump back. But I managed to get on a rock a few feet out and of course he wanted to follow me. He trotted out high kicking with his front feet - like a Lipizzaner - and every time his big puppy paws plopped into the water he splashed himself, which made him jump and shake his head because he didn't understand why he kept getting more and more wet! I was laughing so hard!

My husband missed it so he wants to go again tonight and I'm bringing my phone so I can hopefully catch the same act on video.

I love how much fun you have with Bernie! Keep posting and thanks for helping me and Marley with your ideas...I will try the 'fun' trip this weekend :)

I'm so sorry to hear about Marley's car sickness! Bernie did not like the car, even though he wasn't getting sick, but I made sure to take him somewhere 'fun' on every trip, even if it meant stopping at a random park for a quick romp and new smells. Now he gets excited for the car, a mini adventure for him every time! I hope she gets over it soon, it's so much fun to take them out and show them off!

Good job on the describing the scene. Sounds adorable and quite humorous! I had planned to take Marley to my parents pool, but she proved last week she can't make the 10 minute drive to Petco without getting sick :( A 30 minute car ride is out of the question right now... and so are her swimming lessons! I guess we will live vicariously through you and Bernie!
