I have a 13 month old GoldenDoodle. She's my princess! However, it has gotten to the point, where I have to crate her again. For the first six or seven months, I put her in her crate when I left for work, then I slowly allowed her to have run of the house. Since then, my carpet has become a chew toy and now that the Christmas Tree is up, the ornaments have become a new item of interest.

I hate doing it, but for her own safety and to take back my home, I have to begin crating her again.

Please tell me its okay to do?

Many people crate. We crated at night and for a while during the day when we used our RV. We have an area in our house that we confine our dogs to. Perhaps you have an area that can be doggie proofed. As for the tree many people have put pens around the tree. We put up a small tree last year when Ned was a puppy. I hated that small tree.

I crate mine when I'm not home and I think they feel secure in their crates. When I'm home they are out and about. If I leave them out of the crates and run out briefly they are always waiting by the door. If I peep in when I'm out and they are in the crates they are either sleeping or relaxed.

I don't think you should feel guilty! You are putting her health and well being first. I agree that if she's used to the crate it shouldn't be a problem. :-)
