Earlier this month, DH and I went on a holiday in Tokyo, Japan. We're very lucky to be there at the right time to see the gorgeous sakura (cherry blossoms) which only happens for 1 week out of the year.
It was also the first time we travelled overseas since Chewie arrived a year ago. I missed him terribly, so naturally I bought him lots of gifts from Japan ^^
First gift is a "yukata" or a japanese outfit worn during festivals. This one's made specifically for dogs (in case you're wondering it's for kids). I think Chewie looks sooo cute wearing it.
Second gift is a set of vegetable-shaped squeaky toys.
DH's worried that Chewie will be "spoilt" if I give him the 3 toys all at once, so I have to ration the vegetables. (sigh) He's on the tomato right now, but considering the short lifespan of previous plush toys under Chewie, I think we will move on to carrot within a month or so.
While we're away, my mother came over to stay at our place to dog/house-sit. When we came back, she had wrote a 6-page journal with EVERY SINGLE DETAIL about Chewie's activity over the 4-5 days that we're away.
What time he woke up, ate, pee/poop and slept each day (even the times he woke her up in the middle of the night); How many times he barked at strange noises; How he ate his meals (enthusiastically or a bit hesitant/bored); Even the size and consistency of his poop!!
For those of you who're wondering what's that green thing stuck to one of the pages is...it's a piece of foam from my mom's slippers which Chewie chewed on (and ate part of) when my mom wasn't looking. My mom kept a sample so that I know what he 'ate'. Yes, I got quite a laugh from reading the journal!

I really enjoyed your blog. Glad you had such a nice vacation. Your mom is hysterical! Chewie was just living up to his name. So tell me, did you bring her back a pair of slippers from Tokyo? Hint Hint.
WOW hat a wonderful holiday you had, lucky Chewie to have such a diligent grandmother to keep such a detailed diary.
Wow what a nice journal of his time away from you! Lucky doodle!~
It looks like you had a wonderful trip. Your mom is awesome and sounds like a great dog sitter :) Loved all the pictures.
What a wonderful trip, and how lucky are you to have a dog sitter who keeps such detailed notes? LOL- your mom should open a dog-sitting business, I think everyone here on DK would hire her!
I'm glad you had a wonderful trip. Your mom rocks! Who would keep an eye on your doodle better than her? Heck, I wish our daycare would tell me the time and consistency of Monty's poop. That's an important piece of information. Your mom is wonderful. Chewie looks great in his yukata. And you are so patient listening to your DH and not giving Chewie all the toys at the same time. That's something I just can't do since I have no will power. Thanks for posting.
Your Mom obviously knows how much Chewie means to you and I think she showed huge respect in the way that she obviously cared for him. It shows her deep love for you too and I think the journal is a pretty amazing record of her time with him during your vacation which you now have as a record and a memory. I really love the Yukuta you brought for Chewie and I do hope he is still on his tomato! Great pictures and a great blog so thank you for posting.
What a great Mom ... I agree, she can doodle sit for us anytime!
That is so nice of your mom to do that! And what a nice trip you were able to take!!!
