Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I can't believe it...I have been watching all the reports of the Doodles getting sick and everyone is having trouble trying to figure out what is wrong with them. Now, this morning Gracie (who likes to sleep in late) jumped off our bed and came limping down the hall to the kitchen where we were sitting. I immediately had her lay down and I checked her back paws and pads for some type of injury or something stuck in her paw. I was decorating the tree last night and thought maybe she stepped on an ornament hook. Nothing. Then our neighbor did it a bit more aggressively and she cried when her second from the outer left back paw toe was pressed. We took her to the vet and they think either a sprained or broken toe! She is there now where they were going to make her sleepy with pain medication and then x-ray. That was three hours ago and we are still waiting for the call. They are also going to x-ray the entire leg just as a precaution. Fingers crossed it is just the toe!
What the Doodle is happening to all our babies? Great way for everyone to start the holidays...huh?
UPDATE - Gracie Doodle is fine!
Gracie Doodle is home and asleep on our bed. She has pain medication with they gave her mainly so they could do the x-ray rather than go through the IV and shaved leg thing. There is no fracture, foreign object or knee problems. There is always that fear that there could be a tear in the knee or heaven forbid, cancer! Clean bill of health so we are thinking a sprain or tweaked toe. Slow leash walk for a week and no chasing her tennis ball, running, jumping or leaping...all of which she does. That is probably how she did it. She was running around in the dark last night and probably did it then. Thank you all for your love and concern for her. These Doodles are very very special to us all! One big happy family!!

OMD! Thank goodness Gracie is alright! Hoping you can keep her quiet for a week. She is such a sweetie!
I wish I knew how to put nurse hats on Fudge and Vern to send to Gracie :)
Yeaaaa, I'm so glad, what a relief. Yes, now the pain of keeping her quiet :)
Nancie, I am just now reading this and so glad Gracie is home and seems ok. You are right...what the doodle is going on with our doodles? Take care of sweet Gracie Doodle!!
I am so relieved to hear this, Nancie! When one of our Doodles is "in trouble" we all feel like it's one of our own. Now your challenge is to keep her quiet....I'm sure not an easy task.
So glad that Gracie the athlete is going to be fine. Have fun trying to deny her all the things she lives for...it is hell!
I just read this and am sorry to hear beautiful Gracie Doodle is hurting. Hope she recovers quickly and is back to ball chasing, etc. soon.
Wow - this was scary to read - glad that it turned out to not be serious! I wouldn't be able to stand one more of our doods in a serious situation. When it rains it pours!
Nancie....I'm sorry your going through this worry for Gracie.....sure hope it's nothing serious and she's prancing around pretty soon! (I know what you mean about our Doodles....I was almost afraid to read your post! It's getting crazy it seems.) Banjo send Gracie big wet Doodle kisses!
Doesn't sound too serious. But she may need to keep off her feet (foot) for a while. That will be a trick with Gracie. No jumping and running and playing. Oh my!
