My friend is moving away to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her dog and mine are best friends and will miss each other terribly.

You might want to join one of the Canadian groups here on DK. Check out our Groups page and search for "Canadian" or "Canada" in the search box. Not sure there are too many from Nova Scotia but you could also type that in the search box on the Members page too. Good luck!
