This is heartbreaking but we can't forget the canine and feline victims of the recent tornado in Joplin, MO. Here is a link to The Humane Society of Joplin, Mo http://www.joplinhumane.org/ If you can even donate $10 every cent will count. There are so many that are now lost from their families.
You can also donate through www.doggyloot.com

Copied fro the ASPCA site:
Things are starting to look brighter for these animals. By Thursday morning, more than 60 had been reunited with their families! On Wednesday, even as the threat of more severe weather loomed, 20 pets went home in just one hour. Says ASPCA Senior Director of Field Investigations and Response Tim Rickey, a Joplin native: “It was a wonderful day.”
Yes, a lot of shelters in the nearby areas are trying to take displaced animals. I just read that over 6100 people are missing so who knows when or if these dogs will find their way back home. Anythng helps to provide food and continued shelter!
Thank you for posting this, Suzanne.
So many companion animals have been displaced by the storms, floods, etc, in many parts of the country. The shelters are very overcrowded.
I just donated. Thank you for posting. There are so so many of them :(
Sometimes it is easy to put disasters like this out of your mind (hence the phrase "out of sight, out of mind'). Ever since my city had a devastating flood last May (60,000 homes lost and you probably don't even know about it - hardly made national news), I am leaps and bounds more sympathetic during these times. Darn tornados - go away!!
Sorry for the rant - thanks Suzann :) :)
