How can we get a fence?

So what can a doodle do to get a fence around here?  So mom and dad got us this new house with a really big yard and guess what doods?  I have to be put on a leash or attached to that pole while mom and dad are outside!  Dood they won't let me run on my own! 

 

It was getting old, so I decided to pull one over on daddy.  Saturday night, he was down in the basement taking the recycling out and dood, the second he opened the door next to the garage, I flew out!  Little did he know I was lurking in the basement waiting for my freedom! 

 

I did a few zig-zag zoomies in the back yard, up the hill, down the hill, back up to the woods, back down.  Then dad turned around and said "I am going inside Peri, do what you want".  Well that scared me and I ran to the backdoor to look for mom. Thank goodness she was there and let me in.  She wasn't very happy with me though, but still gave me a hug and a high-5 for coming back.

 

So my question is, how do I get them to put one of those fence, gate-thingies up?  Mom said something about "saving" for one that is "pretty". What the dood?  Can I have a treat sale or something?  I would sell some tennis balls if mom and dad would buy me a fence. Geeeessshhhh.

 

Any tips appreciated.

Sorry Peri-I was being a doodle brain when I told you it was Quincy's mom! It is really Gavin's mom trying get you a fence!!

Peri-It goes like this-EVERYTIME daddy sits down with that remote thing in his hand start a rucus and stand by the door and whine to go out (or whatever trick works for you guys) Then refuse to pee in the yard so he has to walk you 4 times a night and miss his "movie" night, then he gets mad at mommy! This went on for 4 years and finally they were leaving for the home improvement show and we kept ALL our paws crossed! Daddy doesn't make decisions very fast so we held our breath and crossed our paws for like a week, then mom said we should call the guy who gave them a coupon-mommy got daddy hooked on her coupon game then finally this guy came to our house and kept measuring everywhere! YES! We are FINALLY getting a fence=well that was last spring and unless mommy or daddy are out there we still have to be on a leash! We don't get it this wooden thing was supposed to mean freedom! Myla said she always tells me I told you so when I dig in the mud or eat the mulch chips and whatever I can find. Daddy got real mad when I made a hole in the "greenest" part of the grass. Maybe if it ever stops raining we can be a good for a couple times and gain some trust back!! We sure had fun at the doodle romp at least there we had leashes off and got to know what it feels like to RUN with the wind in our hair! You should read what Quincy's mom wrote=she may be on to something!! Good luck Lady P. your time will come, they are just so OVERPROTECTIVE! Oh...I don't think that the escape thing really worked in your favor-you gotta work the guilt trips some more, they just want you to be safe at your new house!! Maybe you can talk them into fencing in a play area for you guys if they can't do the whole yard?? That's what Grandpa did for his 2 big doggies!

Wow, out on a leash all the time. What you need to do is get traded to an old er owner. They make sure the fence is up and in working order. Then you can roam unfettered. sometimes you get yelled at for digging, though. C and L

baby murph here......I think you should pray for rain..lots of cold, pouring, constant, heavy rain.....so your mom and dad will get really tired of taking you out in it..oh, and when you get out there in the rain on your leash....hold your potty as long as you possibly can so your mom and dad get really, really, really wet.  Then when you get back in the house, tell them you have to go again!  This isn't gonna be all that pleasant for you either but eventually they will cave and maybe sell some old gold from the 90's at the pawn shop to buy you a fence.  OR...ask your mommy to send your daddy to some place called Atlantic City with a few of his guy friends..........my mommy did this and I got a fence and she got some kind of irrigation system.  Good luck!

Good luck with the fence Peri, I have a fence and I'm still not allowed out by myself. Mom says there is too many plants and stuff for me to get into and she's afraid I'll go swimming in the fish pond and not be able to get out because the sides are so steep. My mom takes me out for some off leash time everyday and we have a big field that we go to and play ball. I didn't get to play ball today but Mom made me walk 6 miles. WTD? Excuse me, I'm not the one who needs to lose weight.

Ditto on that...I also live in a "leash world".  Momma got a quote on a fence...Papa said something along the lines of "No way are we spending $6,000 on a fence".  So, I think I might have to have a treat sale...or maybe a "pet me" sale!  Rua

Phoebe here.  I really like your entrepreneurial spirit... a treat sale...good one.  I also like the way you tried to scare the heck out of them and got some zoomies in, too.  Don't you hate when your parents call your bluff and try to head inside?  I just hate that! I've got one of those fences and it is great...no leash for me sometimes.  Good luck in your quest and, hopefully, you will get a pretty one soon.
