Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Six years ago tonight, my mom adopted me! She came to the shelter where I was staying and took me home with her, and I've been here ever since!
It took her three days to decide to adopt me. The first day she met me, she wasn't sure she could take care of a big guy like me. She went home without me, to think it over. She needed some time to be sure we would be compatible, so neither one of us would have to have another heartbreak.
That was the longest three days of my life. Mom said hers, too.
But of course, my good looks and charm won her over in the end, and she came back to get me. Kismet, whatever that means. Mom says it means we were meant to be together.
I've taught my mom a lot over the years, like how to throw a ball (she threw like a girl before I came along), how to use a lint roller, and how to pass the CGC test.
She taught me a lot, too. Mostly she taught me that the world is not as scary as I thought it was, and that people are good.
And life is good, too. Especially when you have someone who cares about you.
We've been through a lot together, and some of it has not been so much fun. But as long as we're together, things always turn out all right.
May you all be as happy together as Mom and me, on your 6th Anniversaries, and ever after.
Your friend,
Jackdoodle

Happy Gotcha Anniversary! May you have many, many more!
Thanks, guys! (And girls) We are all lucky doodles to have homes where we are safe and people who love us! I hope every doodle gets what we have!
Clancy, I think I would like an antler now, maybe, but I can't have them. So you go ahead and chew one for me!
Happy Gotcha Anniversary, Jack.
May you and your mom have many more gotchversarys together. I never was in a scary place like you and Clancy, but I was really glad to get adopted by my family. So I do get that part. When I first met my mom and dad they didn't take me even though I tried to charm their socks off (oh they weren't wearing any so maybe that was the problem) but they didn't take me home with them and I had to wait a whole week for them to make a decision about me. That was a lifetime for a puppy. I hear that you are feeling a bit better. Clancy and I are really glad about that.

Happy Adoptaversary, Jack.
I know what you mean about those long days in the shelter. Boy! I never ever want to go there again. It was a very scary time. I was so confused about why I was there. I'll bet you were too. But I was so glad when my mom and dad and my brothers came to get me and take me home. You have the best mom. She told my mom all about what to feed us and stuff like that and I am really grateful. I would send you an antler for a present, but you don't like them - so I'll chew it for you - okay?
Clancy
