Let me try this again....I did something last time when I added the link and I lost my blog. I went out to Petfinder this morning like I do every day to see Izzy....her posting was gone. I sent one last follow-up to the shelter asking them what the status was, just so I could have some closure. They have never responded to any of my inquiries, so they probably won't respond this time either. Anyway, I'm so sad. I fell in love with that little girl, but I'm thinking it just wasn't meant to be. I started looking again, and I did find Joseph, a black mini poodle. He spent over six years in a puppy mill. The pictures of him when he was first rescued made me cry. He has been rehabilitated in a foster home for a few months, and now he looks great. He had made videos on the evils of puppy mills, and he has his own Facebook site. The concern is that he has a seizure disorder, but it is controlled by meds. That worries me a little, but I know there are others on DK who deal with seizures, and it doesn't seem manageable. Guinness has a vet appointment this afternoon, so I will ask her about this. I'm attaching the link, and I'd love everyone's thoughts. I hope it works this time. Please take a look at the video - it's very moving.

Karen, I just sent you a message. Taffy is so beautiful! Would we be allowed to fly her to CT?

Speaking of minis up for adoption...want to take a cross-country drive? Maybe Nancy will meet you in the middle.

Jane,
Sorry to hear about Izzy but I truly am a believer that the dog that is supposed to join your family just hasn't found you yet. :) Gaston-Cramer wasn't our "first choice" but he was exactly who we were meant to have, there is no doubt in my mind.
I was reading Joseph's bio and I agree he's adorable. I just want to suggest that you ask if he's housebroken. Our Bindi was three months old when she was rescued from a puppy mill. She had spent her first 3 months off the ground in a wire cage like Joseph. 8 years later she still is not housebroken. Gratefully, she'll do her business on puppy pads but she has no clue that she's supposed to go outside to do her business. Not to be funny but it's hit or miss if she goes outside! LOL We've tried everything but those first months are so important and we've heard especially in the smaller breeds. We love her regardless but she's certainly higher maintenance. From what I'm reading in Joseph's bio he's been in a cage for years, not months. I sure hope he's housebroken or that you can teach older dogs new tricks so to speak but it's something to think about :).

Just wanted to share our experience with our puppy mill pup...(shhh....don't tell her she's that though...she thinks she's a princess!)

Best of luck on your journey :)

Very true about the minis. Just keep looking. Poodles are awesome dogs of course :)

Hi Jane - I know how disappointing it is to fall in love with a dog and then lose the option (through no fault of your own!). There were several dogs that I fell for and missed my minutes or happenstance and my friends and family would shower me with well-meaning "things happen for a reason" and "what's meant to be is meant to be". I didn't want to hear ANY of it and was so upset each time! Then, when I finally got Callie, I really did understand that the other dogs weren't MEANT to be mine and this particular dog and I are perfect together (and yes, I had to endure a lot of "I told you so" from the fam!). Izzy is adorable and will have a wonderful life with the people who are meant to have her and the perfect brother or sister for Guinness hasn't yet crossed your path (unless it's Joseph, who is very cute and even has a cute name!)

I guess the only reason I haven't put in an app with DRC is that we need a small dog because of the condo. DRC has awesome Doodles, but they are larger than we can have here. I'm thinking the "mini" Doods just don't come up for rescue very often.

He sure is cute - video is adorable. Do you have any more info on his seizures? You could try to find out some more info in the Health & Medical Group.
If all else fails and you are too nervous about Joseph, why not go ahead and put your application in with the DRC or something? I am sure you will find a great pup to adopt - just take your time. You will make a great rescue mom.

I hope she's still a possibility but I agree that there are many other possibilities.

I am so hoping that they only took her posting off because they had too many apps, and not that she is gone. I like you feel she belongs with you. But, I also know there are many others out there that you could love as well. I going to continue hoping that they will contact you. If it is any help, the little boy I've got right now has been posted for close to a week, and I just actually got him here yesterday! We are just now evaluating him and what type home will be best. So the process does take a little while. Since I haven't done this before, I'm seeing now what all goes into choosing the next home. I'm still hopeful for you!
