Help,

I was taking Lexi our 2 1/2 year old Goldendoodle, for a walk tonight and noticed that for the third time in six months she had a clear vaginal discharge which I assume is another UTI. Every time we take her to the vet he gives her Clomax for one or two weeks. I am thinking she will develop a resistence to this medication and trying to research why she might have this re-occurring problem. I could not find anything specific in a search of the health group and you always seem to be able to point us in the right direction for a solution. Any ideas on treatment?

I will of course take her to the Vet in the morning, but really do not like putting her on antibiotics a third time. Other then that she seems to be drinking and urinating normally, is even more playful and active then usual.

After Rosey was spayed she had discharge for at least 6 weeks. I was at my wits end to figure out what it was. Her original vet said UTI and put her on some anit-b that wasn't even appropriate for puppies. Then they wanted to do some procedure to rupture her hymen as they thought it was building up some kind of sac of fluid that kept discharging, I was mortified. So I took her to 2-3 other vets, called a lot of others. Her current vet had one specialist there who had bred many dogs and finally told me not to worry about it. And they did a quick ultrasound to let me know they didn't see anything. They said if she is eating, drinking acting normal than it's probably just a hormonal thing that will go away. Little human girls & babies can have discharge and so can puppies... And sure enough it did. I am so thankful to this day that I sought 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th opinions, did a ton of research AND switched vets...Good luck!

She is Spayed, since 8 months. I thought a discharge would indicate a UTI. The last time she had a discharge the Urine showed nothing but the vet said it had to be an infection.

If the discharge is clear and she has no symptoms perhaps it is not a UTI. I think this can happen. I think she is spayed, right?
