Louie's big day!

My bucketlist includes being a part of a therapy team with my dog. I have wanted this all my life. My work schedule finally lends itself to this and tomorrow I will take Louie for a pre-screening to see if he is a candidate for the training school. I am nervous and excited. Please send me lots of good vibes. I am a firm believer that things like that work! Louie is so great with kids, strangers and other dogs,.......but what about other things, noises, elevators, hospital equipment? Don't know yet! Here we go,.......

Forgot to mention that yesterday at the evaluation one of the trainers told me that he was surprised to see a doodle, because all the doodles he has had in training were too "crazy" (and I quote) to be a therapy dog. Now, remember Louie was acting quite wild when we got there, but did settle after about 15 minutes. I need to let his comment go, right? As I told my husband last night, I will do my homework every week, it is up to Louie to decide if this job is right for him. It might be my goal and not his! ;-D

That's wonderful that Louie passed!   I would love to do that with Cooper too, but I know he wouldn't pass just yet.   He is still too "wiggly" and "enthusiastic", as my trainer says. LOL!   I want to hear all about Louie's adventure though.

Today's performance at Louie's evaluation rated by ME: 1st 15min. in the building; F.   Listening to his human about calming down; F.   Ability to meet other dogs & owners nicely after we were there a while; B.   Heeling, sit, down, stay, off leash come, finish: A.   Leaving the group/building calmly to go home; C.   Three instructors sat with clipboards and wrote notes about each dog and handler throughout the 90min.  Was he approved to start the official training school?...............YES,.....by the skin of his teeth, (I think!)
