Phew. What a past several months we have had. I have learned something new about Allie. She does NOT like change just like her mommy. Here's the "short" version. We finally sold our home last year in a neighborhood which in my opinion was going down hill. Yea! Now we were able to build our dream home on the lot we had already purchased which meant we had to rent until our house was complete. Allie did NOT like the move. She counter surfed to show her disapproval of the rental. $1800 hospital stay later she was all good, but she was not eating her normal amount of food. Food strike maybe? I don't know. She did come around slightly especially when she discovered a bunny lived in the back yard. You should have seen her slow crawl to get close and then the cutesy hops to the bunny hole.
8 months later our dream home is complete! Yea! Maybe now we can get back to regular living.......2 weeks after moving in my son walks into our home. He sees water gushing out of the walls. He thinks, bless his heart, that he left something on upstairs so he runs upstairs to check before coming out to the car where I was talking on the phone to a client. He tells me our house is flooding. I think he ia kidding so he has to say it about 3 times before it registers. I walk in to water flowing like a river out the back door. It is so loud you have to scream to talk to each other. He and I get the water turned off, but our house was destroyed. Luckily, I guess, it was the plumbers fault and they took full responsibility. The repairs cost $108,000. The beautiful house I took such pride in was ripped apart down to the studs. This was right before Memorial Day. We had to move out . Try finding a hotel to stay in that allows dogs on short notice. Allie REALLY did not like this turn of events. She went from 28 pounds down to 25 which really is a lot on her small frame. We stayed in the hotel for 38 days. It was very trying living out of a suitcase.
BUT now we are back in the house and Allie is so happy and adjusted. She really has not played with a toy on her own in a year UNTIL today! She brought ME her toy and asked me to throw it. She ran and ran to go fetch it and even started to play with a towel as I was cleaning up a spill. NOW I can say this house has really become a home. We have a plaque that I love that reads " home is where the dog is". Well I can certainly say that has never rung more true in my heart as it does now.

Wow...what a story and you have all been through so much. I can't imagine having my new home flood. Yikes. So glad the plumber took responsibility and it is now behind you. Enjoy the new home and I am glad Allie is doing better.
