Well, Ms. Foxy Lady seems (seemed) to be progressing nicely up until about an hour ago. I'll have to wait and see tomorrow. After the second surgery which was last Friday, she no longer was favoring the paw and on Saturday while we were working in the yard she was her old self. Wanting us to throw her tennis ball and she would run and get it. Over and over...all day long! Forget the 7-10 days of no jumping or running. It was not going to happen with this Doodle. We have been soaking her paw twice a day in Epsom salts through Sunday. The paw was healing up nicely and it was dry and no moist areas. We haven't used the cone since Saturday and every thing has been fine. I took her for a walk today and checked out her paw. Within one hour after looking at it she started licking it like crazy and now it is bleeding. We just soaked it and she is back in the cone!!! I have applied pressure and pushed on the paw and she doesn't seem to mind so it is not painful at all. We are now thinking one of two things. The shaved hair is growing out and it is very itchy and that is why she is licking and she just licked it raw or there is another (3rd) fox tail and it has turned back around and headed back out. You can see the pin prick hole where the fox tail had entered and where they did the probing. This is where the blood is coming from so our guess is there is another fox tail. Ideally, it would be nice if it presents itself and we can pull it out. I have put her sock back on and her cone. If it heals up and drys out without her licking it then it is not a fox tail. Time will tell! Can you believe that she has the largest cone they make and she still finds a way to lick her paw!!!!!

Poor Graciedoodle. Ned and Clancy want Gracie BETTER. They went to a dog park and she wasn't there to play ball and Nancie wasn't there to check my experimental camera settings (which were baaad).
Gracie, stay off that paw until it is really healed!!!

Poor Gracie, enough already. What malicious things those foxtails are. I may have to rule out California on my fantasy get away from the heat and humidity list.

Oh, Gracie, I'm so sorry you have these nasty foxtails keeping you from your tennis balls! I haven't been able to play with mine either, because of the weather, but at least I don't have sore paws or have to wear a cone! I hope you don't have another foxtail and will be feeling better again soon! Your friend,
Jackdoodle

Well, if it's a foxtail, I hope it works it's way out, so that she doesn't have to have more surgery. Feel better soon, Gracie!
