So my girl moved to a foreign county called Boston.  Way too far away.  She and BF have been trying to establish roots there much to my consternation....... :(  I've always pushed her away and said fly, but when she did I have hated ever saying such s***. They have struggled in a major way, no jobs, no money.  Well here we are nearly 2 years later and both of them have jobs in their degree fields.  Wow.  They are making nearly as much as DH and I are now???  How does that happen..

Anyway the real reason for my blog.  Today I called my DD and she sounds like my old daughter that I remember.  Lots to tell but for example, she called my dad and he was so blown away that she called him. I told her that and she was amazed.  She said really? He cared that much that I called him?  She then went on to say she has called several people, grandparents of my ex-husband and so forth.  She has turned out to be the daughter I always wished for, thoughtful and mindful of her older generation.  geez.  I am fulfilled by this tonight I just cant tell ya.... I am truly fulfilled this Christmas season more than I expected.   Sometimes we have to wait for them.  Amber is 25 this year and I love her more than ever.

I once read that our job as parents is not to raise children, but to raise future adults.  You clearly did your job, as your adult child turned out just fine!  I, too, am very proud of my adult daughter - and now I get to watch her raise her own little "future adult".

I think your daughter is so lucky to have a mom like you. I'm sure she is proud of you too!

It's so wonderful when our kids do us proud. Love the name Amber too.

I think you're right, sometimes we just have to wait for them to grow and learn.  It's such an awesome feeling when we get to see them as happy, competent, loving adults.

What a wonderful thing when your children become the wonderful adults you hoped they would.

It's nice to have validation that all the blood, sweat and tears you put into raising them was worth it, isn't it? Pat yourself on the back, you have every reason to be proud!

Congratulations on a job well done, YOU had a lot to do with how she is today. I take credit all of the time for my DD and how she turned out...I was an awesome MOM. Ha ha

My adult daughter is the joy of my life. Honestly, I admire her so much. Then there is my DIL! She is the very best wife to my son and mother to my grandchildren. I am truly blessed. We are really fortunate when we can call our adult children our friends.
