Not extatly what we thought

I am a doodle lover and I do love Skylar, my Doodle best of all. She is cute, funny, smart and great with the kids now. She is s good traveler. 500 miles each way with one hotel stay in Albany NY at a suite in a Hampton Inn and a ferry ride to and from Long Island for Thanksgiving.

She got along great with our friends family dog a German Shepard for 5 days and loved the beach / Long Island Sound. But maybe she seemed to get along with that German Shepard too well.

When we got home the following weekend we were stopped on the street of a small town (Ellicottville, NY)  by a women who said she had an identical dog to ours. She litterly saw as while she was driving, parked her car and followed us so she could see the dog. She is a Doodle stalker in a good way. She told us she was told her dog was a Labradoodle but she discovered it was a Lab / Wire Haired Griffon mix or what she called a Griffadoodle. She said Skylar looked the same including the silver hair streaked through her coat on her spine and around her eyes.

Being the inquisitive type I ordered one of those DNA tests and it came back that Skylar was a Doodle but not a Labradoodle or a Griffadoodle. Skylar is a Shepadoodle. Skylar is 50% German Shepard and 50% Standard Poodle. So maybe that's why Skylar got along with my friends German Shepard over the Thanksgiving weekend so well.

Or maybe it's just a testament to how great Doodles are. No matter what type of Doodle Skylar is we love having rescued her and especially having made her a part of our family.IMAG0167.jpg     IMAG0177.jpg.

What does f1 and the other combinations mean?

Your Skylar looks a lot like my Jack, who is an F1 labradoodle.  There seem to be so many variations among the doodles.  There is a black Shepadoodle that comes to my dog park.  He has very curly fur and looks more like a second generation doodle.  Its all in the luck of the genes.
