Happy Fourth of July. Ollie is 11 weeks old and we just got back from spending the holiday weekend at the lake. It was a 2 hour drive and he sat between 2 of my kids on the very back seat of the minivan and just slept both ways. I was a little worried what we would do when we got there since he hasn't had all his shots and we were limited in where we could take him but somehow it didnt end up being a problem. We took him out on the boat and stopped at a little island and took him and Charlotte (4 year old dog) and our kids to play at a beach of shorts - turns out Ollie can swim! He walked right out and did a little doggie paddle and then decided he would rather play in the sand. He wasn't sure what to make of the wind on the speed boat but he was very calm and snuggled in close. When we got back from that adventure - he crashed hard and slept for hours. We brought his crate with us and he slept in it at night and when we went out with no problems. He had only one accident and that was really human error because we didn't get him out of the house fast enough! Last night there were fireworks going off all around us and we were out on my mom's back deck overlooking the lake and as usual - Ollie took it all in stride and didn't seem scared at all. I wonder if he will get scared when he is older?

He is still eating whenever he gets the chance but changing to Taste of the Wild seemed to help and my older dog loves it too! I am giving him 1.5 cups in the morning and the same at night and he seems a little less ravenous though I also think he could easily eat more. He looks enormous to me - like he has gained at least 5 pounds this week - we go back to the vet on Saturday so we will see.

Accomplishments of the week: definately a decrease in accidents, slept till almost 7a every day, goes up and now down stairs too, can doggie paddle, walked a little on a leash

Challenges of the week: still some accidents in the house, still nipping - especially when he is tired - he nipped at me today and I grabbed and yelled loudly - that seemed to register though I think I scared him more than I meant to!

I need to take more pictures as he is changing so much every day!! We are very happy with him - he is warm and friendly with everyone he meets! Until next time - Stacey

Sounds like Ollie is doing very well with everything. And yes, pictures, pictures pictures. I killed my camera batteries in the last couple of days alone.
