We just rescued a 9 month old golden doodle.  Her name is Maggie and she is a love bug! 

Not afraid and was very comfortable in our home from the minute she stepped in.

We are working on her to learn basic commands, and have already taught her how to walk on a leash without pulling. 

She came to us house trained, and we have had no accidents!!  We are going to need to work on her manners and she appears to bark (VERY LOUD) at me for attention which we need to break:  FAST!!

We are loving her goofiness, and I am eager to learn from all of you on this site.

 

She has a mixture of a straight and wavy coat, and I am thinking this is still her puppy coat, but to be honest,  I really don't know how to tell.   I will be looking for some advice on grooming.  I have been brushing her with a dog brush I had and will be looking into buying the right tools to make the job easier.  I guess Les Pooch is the way to go?!?

 

Again, I am eager to learn from this site with obedience, grooming, etc!!

Amy, I ordered my first Les Pooche brush last week (my husband just called to tell me that it arrived in the mail today!!)  Hopefully it will meet all my expectations.  You will definitely learn a LOT from DK and the hardest part will be trying to limit the time that you send on this site!!  I hope things continue going well with Maggie.

Congratulations to you and Amy!    She sounds wonderful.  Nine months is just about the time my guys went through the coat change.  They are "non shedding" so we had to deal with lots of mats.  To be honest, I found combing them was better than brushing.  Have you joined the Grooming Group?  You'll get lots of info there.  I think it's awesome that you have already taught her to have manners on the leash.  She's a beautiful girl, and I know she'll bring you lots of love and enjoyment.  Thank you for rescuing her.
