I had thought we had weathered our first Halloween with Phoebe very well including her acceptance of being dressed up and walking with us facing all the revellers on our night trick or treating. Last night, I put all the costumes away and everything was great. This morning, two of my boys had taken the cat mask back out and had left it on our living room chair--unbeknownst to me, of course--where Phoebe got it and ate the wire out of the whiskers. Thankfully, my oldest son caught in her the act and we extricated one piece from her mouth and found another on the floor BUT there was one that was not found. Yikes! I panicked and called the emergency vet and , of course as expected, was told to bring her in for an x-ray. My son suggested we bring the mask so that the vet could see how thin it was--I was in a fog...thank heaven for his good thinking. We drove all the way there and the vet said it was so thin it would probably pass without incident. We were told to give her pumpkin--which is part of her normal meal anyway--and watch and wait! She is her usual self--this could have been much worse but I am still waiting for an uneventful, stress-free weekend!

I know how hard it is to try and keep "everything" out of reach. When my grandaughter is here I am always telling her "you can't let that there because Lilly will get it". I hope everything passes ok.
