Penny the WonderDog Has Gone Over the Rainbow Bridge

Yesterday morning, Penny told us it was time for her to go.  Her mast cell cancer, which she had fought valiantly for more than a year, just plain wore her out.

 

We spent the day saying our final thank you's and goodbyes.  In the afternoon, a very special hospice vet came to the house, and Penny went to sleep in her favorite spot, surrounded by more love than the room could hold.  She went peacefully and you could see the relief on her face that she was no longer in pain.

 

While we are, of course, devastated, we are happy that she is no longer suffering.  We feel very good that we knew when the time was right without her suffering more than she had to.  And there are no words to relate the amount of joy she has given us over the last 7 years.  She was not only an amazing member of the family; she made the love between my husband Ron and myself all that stronger.

 

We move forward one day at a time with broken but full hearts.  Now it is time to love and care for Biscuit as she tries to find her way without her big sister.

 

We want to thank each and every one of you who have continued to reach out to us during this past year.  We joined DoodleKisses when it was just brand new, and have made friends for a lifetime.  Your love and concern have meant the world to us, and we look forward to sharing Biscuit's life with you the days unwind.

 

Penny loved you all... and so do we.

Michele, I was just thinking about Penny the other day and wondering how she was doing. I have no words for the sorrow I am feeling that Penny is gone. I am so sorry for you, your husband, and Biscuit, but it sounds like it was the right thing for Penny. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Hugs to all of you.

Again I am so sad to hear Penny is gone. I do believe that dogs are very fortunate that we can spare them some suffering when it is time.
