On Saturday I baked a batch of my grandma's famous homemade chocolate chip cookies for my dad.

As you can see from the below photo, Peri knew exactly where to position herself - directly below my feet!  She was anxiously awaiting drops of cookie dough, but lucky for us both, I kept the chocolate away from her :)

Do your doodles do this while you cook?

Well. I don't cook. Myla is there to catch crumbs from everything-pizza crumbs are her best bet she lays just like!

Gee, Peri, I'd be right there with you....chocolate chip cookies are my favorite....I never allow myself to make them....I'm one of those people who starts out with a recipe that says it yields 75 cookies but for some inexplicable reason only yields 30 at best!

Ellie does the exact same thing. It was worse when my mom visited and was cooking. Ellie literally laid down right where she was cooking while if it's me cooking she knows to go lie right outside the kitchen :)

My kitchen really isn't that big, so when I'm cooking the boys have to stay out.  They lay right at the door and stare at me the whole time.  Murph has been known to leave a puddle of "drool" if I'm cooking something that smells really good to him.  Lady Peri looks like such a great "helper".

Oh yes!  I usually gate the doods away from where I'm cooking because it gets too crowded with a toddler and two large dogs all in the kitchen together, but when I do have them near, they are READY TO POUNCE on any dropped food they hear, smell, or imagine.  Rosco can also smell asparagus being rinsed from miles away and drops by for his required 2-3 asparagus ends every time!

Halas clears the room when I cook.  Sometimes I catch things on fire, and he doesn't want any part of it.

Phoebe will join me in the kitchen if I am using certain ingredients such as peanut butter, tuna, carrots, chicken, salmon or anything to do with rice otherwise, she hangs out in the great room...close enough to see, but far enough to stay out of trouble.

OMD! yes!  In fact I had to rebake some of the Doodle Kiss-a-thon winners' cookies as Harlow snatched a batch for herself and Baxter.  If I am not tripping over on, I am tripping over the over when it's doggie cookie baking time.
