Puppy fever, Winter babywearing, shots today.. oh my!

Oh dear... DH has puppy fever.  Bad.  We've always felt like we are a 2-dog household, but now is not the time DH.. our 2-legged baby is only 2 months old!  Here is a shameless picture of our cutie:

 (removed)

DH isn't the type to run out and buy a puppy on a whim thank goodness.. but he has started researching breeds!  He seems to have maybe settled on a mini Australian Shepherd.  He's even "settled" on a brown one, something like this.

He's really desperate but I've told him no puppy until our human baby is at least old enough to be mobile... so he'll have to wait until next Summer.  I know puppies and babies together are not necessarily a good idea, so we will have to have some serious discussions in the near future.  We do want Luna to have a companion and for her to still be fairly young so she can enjoy playing her buddy.

Of course we could wait until our baby is older.. but we are planning on having another child in the next few years so we'd be in the same pickle!

In other news... Winter is coming

and I'd still like to be able to walk Luna when it's reasonably warm (for here... reasonably warm means -10C or about 7 F).   So far I've been babywearing with a baby carrier to walk Luna but it's getting mighty cold with my coat open!  It won't zip up with a baby strapped to my front.  I've been looking into this thing called a kokoala that can extend my nice and toasty Winter coat to keep both of us warm!  Of course I likely won't look as stylish as this model but I can try.

Baby is getting her first immunizations today... hopefully she is one of those babies who doesn't freak out and then just sleeps really well for a day or so... but I'm predicting a godzilla-type meltdown and some extreme fussiness.

Sophie is beautiful! You will figure it all out, but make DH sign a contract that he will do all the work with the next puppy. LOL

Baby Sophie is just gorgeous! I'd just enjoy Luna and baby right now, I'm sure that is keeping you plenty busy.

The immunizations were fine - she was a trooper!  Only cried about 30 seconds and daddy calmed her right down.  She slept fine Monday night, but last night not so much... we were up every 1.5 hours (she wanted food).  I think she was feeling a bit sick and wanted to snack to feel better.  Hopefully tonight we're back to our normal only waking once or twice overnight!

What a sweet baby!  That is really cold weather, too cold for me to venture anywhere!  Hope the immunizations went well!

How bright, and beautiful Sophie is. She is two months already ? WOW... and look at all that hair !

Puppy hankerings are great, only IF your DH is going to be there to do ALL the potty training, and other training while you are having Sophie time. I think maybe he should just enjoy Luna for now, and get a puppy later when YOU are ready !

Keep posting those pictures of Sophie and Luna. Love to see both ♥ !

Great update.  That koko-whatchamacallit looks like a smart idea.  I would definitely go for it.  Another puppy on the other hand...  Gorgeous girly by the way.  Hope you are enjoying every minute.   Let us know how the shots went.

J, she's beautiful. I agree with everyone to wait. Once they get mobile, it gets extremely difficult.  It is really a constant effort on our part to ensure Charlotte doesn't sneak up on the dogs, pet them too hard, etc...  It's tough, but we are working through it.  Even Peri, whom I thought would never hurt Charlotte, nipped her recently.  So my advice is to WAIT!

Thanks everyone!  We certainly think she is cute (not biased at all).  Her hairdo is pretty hilarious... it doesn't matter what I do it just sticks up.  Maybe it will calm down a bit when it gets longer.

I'm sure I'll be able to convince DH to wait until after the 2nd baby, but he has this weird notion in his head that he wants dog-baby-dog-baby.  :p   Guess who's at home on parental leave and would have to deal with the puppy/baby situation?  Not him!

Sophie is adorable and I love her "do"!  Oh, I think I would give it a little time before adding a new fur baby!  Shoot I give your husband credit for even thinking about it right now with a new baby in the house.  Love your little girl while she is tiny, it won't be long before she is running along side Luna:)
