Puppy question - 4 Wetting accidents within 1.5 hours? How can this be?

Hi everyone! Well, it's been one week with Olive, and we're all doing very well, except for one thing...and, apparently, I need some advice!

Olive is doing absolutely great. Huge accomplishments:

1 - From 11pm to 6am: Olive sleeps in her crate & NO accidents
2 - Mornings: We go out for 3 little walks. Perfect: she does her business outside, and NO accidents.
3 - All day at my retail store: She hangs out with me. We go out for 2 or 3 walks during the day, and NO accidents!

BUT...here's the kicker: Olive has tiny piddles here and there, throughout the evening. And, I simply don't understand it... I clean with "Nature's Miracle, " I use Baking Soda, I take her out each and every time there is an accident. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Olive is 9 weeks old. For the record: she is absolutely outstanding. Cute as a button, smart, affectionate, just a "wow" puppy all-round. But, I have to figure out what I am doing wrong in the evenings. Any help out there?

Thanks in advance!

Susan

Hi Everyone! Thanks for the terrific feedback. It looks like we're almost out of the woods! In fact, if Olive has an accident at all, it is usually our fault for not reading the signs! We also have found that 8:30-9:30 is her "witching"-hour, so to speak ;) we keep a closer watch on her during that period, and often place her in her crate, for a break from the kids. Everyone seems happy during this little peace time, and NO ACCIDENTS! Thanks again, Susan. (Vet appointment is in 2 weeks, but as I said...everything is turning up!).

My doodle did the same thing and it ends up she had tiny crystals in her urine, some type of infection. She was put on antibiotics for 4 weeks and within a day was feeling better and not having accidents. She is now on the hill's prescription diet to prevent this from happening again. Definitely go to the vet!!!

I agree with around 16 weeks, maybe a bit longer for Gunner. He wouldn't squat, he would pee as he walked, so that made it almost impossible to catch him & run him outside. Your Olive will get it. If it continues, I would check with the vet. Always better to be safe. Goodluck!

Peri went through this at 9 and 10 weeks, about 1-2 times per week. Her time was the morning for 3-4 pees in a row. At almost 12 weeks, she has had one accident since last Friday. I think it will pass, but are you doing any shots at 10 weeks? If you are planning to go to the vet, you may want to get her tested for the infection.

I'd take him to the vet just to make sure there's no bladder infection lurking in there!

Agreed - it'll pass and she'll figure it out :) Good luck!

Abby went through that too. It passed. But do make sure he doesnt have a bladder infection. I find 16 weeks the magical time to see real improvement where they can go days without a mistake.
