Shaving the dog

Hello to all,

I have a question? Has anyone gotten there dog shaved for the summer. I want to get Trace shaved and want to know if it a good idea.

They get a summer cut every year. They like water and it get's soooo hot here I could not imagine them in a full coat with this heat. Our other cuts through out the year are not as short :) They still look adorable to me!

I've heard that the hair protects them from heat and sun. But nevertheless, I keep Gracie cut pretty short most of the time. That way she is "Drip Dry". She plays hard and dirty so I bathe her often. Also, I don't have to be so meticulous with brushing!

we shave Skeet pretty close in the summer. He really gets hot with all that fur. It also makes it easier to keep him clean and eliminates any matts you missed when brushing. He seems to feel better and it grows out fairly fast. I will say he looks kinda funny at first, but I just keep telling him how handsome he is so he won't be embarassed.

I've gotten Lucky shaved several times and I believe it's a good idea especially if you have hot summers and exercise your dog alot. After all, it grows back. It sems to me a lot of people that own doodles will get them shaved for just these reasons and others such as matts in their coats. If your not a grooming expert, which I'm not, I say go ahead.
