Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am very grateful to all who offered an opinion as to Golda's breed(s). No, Shelly, she does not shed . . . at least not yet. Since Golda comes to the office with me everyday, I am frequently asked what kind of dog she is. Now at least I can offer a "general (unanimous?) consensus. Meanwhile, I have had the opportunity to look at pictures of all of your dogs. What magnificent and photogenic darlings, each in his or her own way. I can only hope my baby becomes as beautiful, playful and affectionate as all of yours seem to be.

On another note, I am especially low tech. I know nothing about blogging v forums (except what I have read here), profiles, making friends or giving gifts. In particular, I am not sure what conversation to post on my page v the blog and I do not know what tags are.

Please bear with me if I do something wrong and feel free to offer advice.

Thanks for your warm welcome.

Alice

Alice - we all have put forums in blogs and blogs under forums, and I expect at times there will be more. Wherever and whatever you post and read, know that there will always be someone out there at all hours reading what you write and ready to reach out and answer you. What I truly love about this site, aside from the common love we all have for our doodles, is that help is always right here at your fingertips - literally. We welcome another future Doodle Addict!

Alice - I'm NOT low tech and I still post stuff in the wrong places! (and my dog looks like a blurry black blob in most of my photos!) Fortunately this isn't a judgement-y group of people!

Like everyone else has said...it's not a big deal if you post things in the wrong place, I'll help you =)
Don't worry about "tags" unless you want to put a photo into our slide show on the front page--and there are instructions on that directly above the slide show.

Glad you got some good breed suggestions from people =)

As far as being low tech...have you watched our videos? Here are some quick tips:
Blogs vs. Forum. A Forum is a place to discuss, ask questions, seek advice. When in doubt...post your thoughts in the Forum. Only post in the Blogs if you do NOT want advice or are mostly writing for yourself (aka public diary).

Your profile is your personal page on here. It is where you can tell others about you, people see only your photos, and you can decorate that page as you wish.

Making friends...it is what you want it to be =) The benefit is that on occasion if you want to send a private message to all your 'friends' you can do so. Private messages can only be sent between two members IF they have accepted each others' friend request. Then there is a list of Friends on your page.

Giving gifts...not a huge deal. Everyone starts off with so many points. Using those points you can 'buy' a gift (which is really a picture of a gift) to send to a friend on this site. But after you use up your points you have to literally 'buy' more with real money.

You write in the blog or forum when you want to reach all members (or those who read these things) and you respond on someone's page when you only want to respond to that person. So if someone leaves a comment on your page, you can click "comment back" to respond to their comment. So your page is like your 'home' and members visit to speak semi-privately with you. Vs. responding in the more public forum or in blogs. But YOUR page is NOT private to the world unless you change your settings to make it so.

I agree with Anna!! I, too, have posted things in the wrong area. I was kindly reminded that a blog is just to say what you are thinking. Just like what you did above. A discussion is where you want an answer to a question. I believe a tag (don't quote me on this) is when you want to share a picture with someone. You tag the picture. Your Golda is a real cutie!!

I am very low tech as well. I have learned a lot just from reading everything posted. I have put things in the wrong places. The friends here will guide you if you need it they are all wonderful and very helpful. If you make a mistake no worries chalk it up to being new. Because of this site I have learned a lot. Granted I still have to ask my son a question or two. Good luck and have fun! It gets addicting!
