Murphy here,

Tuesday I got to go doggy daycare at my vet's. I love doggy daycare. I played and played, got covered in dirt and mud, and I got a bath before my mom picked me up. (They never let my mom see me like that.)
When mom picked me up, Dr. Chris told her "Murphy is a little too fluffy."

What does that mean? I know I looked really great after my bath and blow dry allover. (I love that.) But too fluffy?

Dr. Chris then said something about "100.9 lbs" and a "diet". She must have been talking about my mom because my mom always talks about diets so I'm sure she could use one.

The next morning there wasn't much kibble in my bowl. When my mom gave me my really good treat- I get that every morning she goes to work- it WASN'T my really good treat. It was APPLE. WTD???
Now, I don't mind a bite of apple occasionally when mom is eating one. BUT it is definitely not up there with my really good treats. So I ate the cat's kibble.

Last night, my bandana came in the mail. Mom put it on me and took my picture. I found a new way to wear it, though. I think I can store treats in it if I can FIND any in this house...like monkey cheek pouches. A Dood could starve here.

This morning it was more APPLE. This is worse than when that foster dog was here. I'm gonna have to start countersurfing. Sure wish I could open the refrigerator. I know there is cheese in there.

Any tricks from you Doods out there would be greatly appreciated.

Your starving pal,
Murphy

Bodi, Mom just showed me your message. I love the haircut idea. Who needs hair in New Orleans?

Well, I tried countersurfing today, but there wasn't anything on the counter but apples. I'm really mad at myself. One of my brothers tried to teach me how to open the fridge after he saw a dog in a commercial. After I put a hole in the can he wanted me to get, Mom said "NO MORE" and took my pull handle off the door. It didn't seem important at the time.
When we did tricks tonight, I got Cheerios. They are good but I want the whole box.

She sat down on the sofa and I went and sat in front of her, STARING. She asked if I wanted to go outside (no, I haven't had anything to eat). MORE STARING. She finally got up. I took her hand in my mouth (really gently) and led her to the kitchen..to my treat jar. She gave me more Cheerios :-(

I'll have to try the worms. Worms sound good.

Guinness, after showing me your message, mom checked my ribs. She said she couldn't find them and said something about boot camp. Didn't your Murphy go to boot camp? Is it fun? I like camp. They have food.

I think I want to go stay with my brothers.

Hey Murphy, Guinness here. I'm getting really scared too. I gained three pounds....three pounds, who cares right? My Mom cares. She's a little "crazy" when it comes to those things. She did some "calculations" and figured out that's a 16% increase in my body weight...then she freaked out. That was a couple days ago, and now she keeps trying to feel my ribs. WTD! I hate that. I had a little trouble with my IBS the past couple of days so she hasn't put me on "the diet" yet....but I know it's coming. Maybe I'll pretend I'm still sick so I don't have to start eating "diet food". As it is, I hardly get any treats because of my "stomach issues". I love cheese too, Murph. I really hope Mom doesn't take away my cheese. I'm too little to counter surf, and I can't open the refrigerator, so I'm in a real bind here. As for my brother, Murphy, he wouldn't share ANYTHING with me. I don't know anything about cats, but they sound pretty nice if they share their kibble with you. Let's keep in touch....maybe we need to start a diet support group here on DK for Doods like us.

Hey Murphy, Your vet is nice "fluffy" is a good word my vet said I was fat! 96 lbs that was in June I'm now 84lbs mom's so happy she said "I don't have to push in so hard to feel your ribs" My mom fed me lots of green beans, The best ones are can "no salt added" french style, mom calls them worms and I like worms. Vet tech told her to cut back on the carrots something about sugar. When I got real hungry I'd just go to the garden and munch on tomatoes and green beans. Fresh brussel sprouts are really good too, crunchy balls. Don't worry Murphy as my mom says the first 3 days of a diet are the worst.

Hey Murphy - here's what I did the last time my vet said I was too fluffy. I got my hair cut a week before my appointment!! It worked ! I lost four pounds!! Tell your mom to try it! PS I hope you get some cheese soon. I love cheese too. :^) Bodi

Murphy, tell your mama to try carrots to break up the monotony. Mom gives us pears, sometimes apples, sometimes carrots.......and dood, sometimes I get green beans on my food! Or cooked carrots - heated!! Luv your friend Lady P
(the beans and carrots are to keep Peri full but slim and trim BTW - this is her mama Allyson)

Murphy - this is Rooney's mom and I feel your pain - I'm fluffy too. Have your mom tell the Vet that you are just big boned. About that kitty kibble - Rooney is crazy for it too, but then I caught the cat trying to eat Rooney's chicken jerky. Hang in there it will get better.

Poor Murphy! Things are getting nasty at your house!! All I know is don't eat the pink crunchy things in the bathrooms. If you do really bad things can happen and you might have to wear a cone. Maybe you can work out a deal with the cat. My sissy cat pushes things off the counter for me to eat. Might be worth a try. Good luck! Tara
