Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Auggie is 8 months old today. Where did the time go? He's been home for 6 months already and I'm happy to report that I'm still alive. :-) As you know the first few weeks were really hard for me. But fortunately, puppies grow fast and the humans get used to the chaos eventually.
Auggie still loves to terrorize his older brother Monty and to destroy the backyard. But, he has grown into a very sweet puppy (you can tell this especially when he is separated from his brother). Being used to Monty's attention all the time, I felt strange that Auggie's center of universe was his brother the first few months. At a dog park, Auggie would just take off to play with other dogs and not check in with me until he was tired, while Monty has always stayed near me.
Well, things are progressing nicely. We got Auggie because my DH wanted a devoted dog that would follow him around, just like Monty follows me. So it happens that I have now TWO extra escorts when I move around the house, go to bathroom or go take a shower... And he now checks in several times while at dog park, and even comes running across the dog park when called. He thinks the vacuum cleaner is the most interesting animal ever. If he had opposable thumbs, I bet he would help me clean the house, which would be really helpful since all the dry grass that's missing in the backyard is reappearing all around the house. Roomba is sounding better and better every day. Auggie did not even flinch when I turned our new dog hair dryer on the hurricane setting the other day.
Auggie is doing nicely in training, although we are still having a hard time discouraging jumping on people. And I have to admit that Auggie is definitely the patient one out of the two doodles.
In any case, I was going through some old pictures of little Auggie and was amazed what 6 months can do to a doodle, even visually. I thought you would get a kick out of these. Just like somebody said: doodles are like a box of chocolates...

Oh, these photos of the changing Auggie are wonderful!
OMD, I can't believe how big and grown up our little Auggie is! I'm glad to hear how well things are going. He is just beautiful!
Jarka, Auggie is such a gorgeous dog. He has the look of a Doodle that I just love. Reminds me of Jane's Stuart. I am so glad everything is going well. I wish I had thought to do the chair comparison. What a neat idea.
Sandy, it will change. I've noticed that they do like each other (well, maybe Monty might not even notice if Auggie was missing), but the older Auggie gets, the more he gets attached to me. Monty loved to play with the little guy a lot at the beggining to the point that I was worried about he security of the little guy. Now that Auggie is bigger, Monty runs for cover and protection to me. They have never snuggled together as I would wish, but now Auggie just goes upstairs or finds me in the house to take a nap. It's not like they have to be in the same room together anymore. Having two dogs is totally new to me (just like having one dog was 3 years ago), so I'm just trying to do my best and go with the flow.
As for the pictures, I love them too since Monty has always been Monty and there was no real change in his fuzziness.
Joanna, he is pretty patient when mommy is taking pictures so even if he did not fit the chair, he still stayed in there for the picture. He IS a good boy.
He is SO beautiful!!!!! And how on earth did he not only FIT on that chair but STAY on it?
Auggie, you are such a sweet looking guy. Love the "before and now" pics!!!
Oh Auggie, you are one handsome ...and big dood!!
