Ok...it started out as cute naughtiness, but Callie escalated into major destruction today...she broke, pulled down, and shredded the blinds in my den. Our schedule hasn't really changed, so if it is boredom, it's sudden onset boredom. I really don't know how to prevent this (first step of course will be confinement again when I'm gone). Any words of wisdom would be welcome!!!!!!!!!! .

Ha! Yes, this was definitely an exercise in economizing because, oddly enough, I didn't happen to have new blinds worked into the December budget! At least now the neighbors can't see how much time I spend on the sofa snuggling with Callie!

There are fancy verticals that look beautiful on small windows. I have been out on a lot of my husbands jobs and many are solutions to the exact problem you are having. But, if you are like me, you can't afford to dress windows for thousands of dollars. Even though my husband has the connections my window dressings are over 10 years old :) Got it.

Joanne - I'm sorry to disappoint, but I got horizontal blinds. The windows are long and skinny (28" x 72") and would look funny with three vertical blind slats!! I am going to keep them pulled up a few inches so that Callie can see out AND Callie is going to be confined when I'm not home. I'm just so happy that I was able to install the blinds myself! I have the cords wound in a way that Callie can't get to them and there are no weights (just nylon strings between the slats) so I feel ok about her safety.

Nina, bring her some verticals blinds for Christmas also. :) (hint)

The good news is that i got over the "mad" part. Callie's just too flipping adorable to stay mad at. The bad news...I always have to have blinds down, or you can see straight into my house.

Nina - if you don't mind bring the exercise pen on Sunday, I would love to give it a whirl. I'm not sure I have 12' available in my little town house, but I'm up for anything now!

Advice for the next set of blinds: Keep the blinds open! I always leave the blinds open when we have puppies or kids around.

:) So the moral of the story. By an A-Frame home on the Lake, in the mountains and leave the windows clean and open--no treatments. I WISH

Oh no... they did not die. I reread that and it is misleading. They were hanging---all in ropes and drapery cords. They did not die. Sorry. My walls were destroyed and so were the blinds. My sons, young at the time, cut them out with kitchen knives.
I was horrified--but it all worked out.
