Timbow's turning into a man and I'm not happy about it!

We had Timbow neutered at 8 weeks and have been very pleased with that decision. He healed very quickly (you can't even see a scar), never lifts his leg to go potty, is extremely submissive/non aggressive, and has never humped anyone..until now!!!! My baby boy humped a beagle at the park today! I almost died! I don't even know if he knew what he was doing, since it was kind of a half-hump. I'm guessing he learned it from other dogs doing it to him (they normally run to him and mount..yes, even the tiny dogs). Maybe it's good that he's starting to "man up", but I don't want him to hump. I want him to be the sweet innocent baby that he's been for the past year of his life. I'm sure most of you think I'm crazy, but this is a first for us in the humping department. Thanks for letting me vent, he's my baby and I want this behavior to stop immediately.

Guinness will try it every once in a while with certain dogs. There is one dog a Daycare that he just can't seem to resist, although they put a quick stop to it. I also saw him try it at Agility class with a very submissive Doberman. That dog ran away and hid behind his "parents" chair. That was actually pretty funny to watch since Guinness is only 16 pounds. I think it is something to do with the energy of the other dog or they are just overexcited in playing. I agree it doesn't seem to be sexual.

I agree, it is annoying, Sophie humps Lucy all the time! I've only ever seen her do it in the house though.

HAHAHA! You should just SEE his 1/2 bro Astro at the dogpark in Nashville...Astro was quite the humper last time Yvonne and I met. This is hilarious.

Both my girls and Mickey hump only each other and only when they are playing in my yard. Never in the dog park. I know that there is nothing sexual in it. It is purely dominance! When Samantha has enough of Charli's antics, she will hump her and Charli stops being a PIA' at least for a little while. Charli does it I am sure to try and prove that she is the dominant one - in her dreams! Mickey does it to both girls when he wants to prove that he is dominant doodle in the house. Ha!
Not very attractive from any of them but I don't interfere. I let them work out who is in charge. So far, it seems that Samantha is winning.

I know it's normal. It was just so funny that it took a whole year. We figured that he just wasn't a humper. lol

He's probably just doing this as a dominance not a sexual behavior. They do change from cute puppies into adults ll to fast, though.
