This was a post I had on Facebook this morning from the Golden Retriever Rescue and thought it was an awesome idea!!!!
Golden Retriever Rescue Resource, Inc. Here's a GRRReat tip: To wash your dog collars and leashes, remove all the tags and stuff them in an old pair of pantyhose. Put the hose in with a color load (cold water). When the load is done, remove the leashes and collars from the pantyhose and let them air dry. Ta-da! They are all nice and clean.

I was just thinking how nasty Mollys collar is starting to look...part of me wants to do the "girly" thing and just go get her a new "pretty" collar...buttt I really like the leash we have and it matches her collar, so I guess in the washer it will go!!

Hunter has her harness shevwears when we walk but then she has her pretty regular collars and I must confess I switch those like I switch purses!

I just toss the collars and leashes in the washing machine, usually with the denim items, nothing for them to snag.

I will wash collars the same time I am washing dogs.  I take them off of course, but shampoo works on collars as well as dogs. :-D

The rolled leather collars, obviously can't be washed, but in reality shouldn't be wiped down or have the little hair blobs pulled off.  This is for dogs who mat around the collar area.  You want the 'grease and the hair blob on that collar to make it less likely for the hair around the collar to rub and mat.

I soak Daisy's in the sink with dish soap when she gets a bath....sometimes that thing really gets sour smelling.

Hmmm... Guess I'd better take a closer look at Sedona's collar.  She's wearing the same one (unwashed) that she's had since she reached her "big girl" size.  Maybe she's too lady-like to have gotten it dirty, or I need new glasses, or I just have low cleanliness standards!
