I am just back from two nights away in London on business.  Riley is coming up to six months now so I was quite happy leaving him with my partner.  They met me at the airport and I was licked to death all the way home in the car.  I noticed that Riley smelt like he had just had a bath, so I asked the question.  I got a casual answer that Riley had rolled in silage (smelly old grass clippings) in the field yesterday and so Dad gave him a bath.  I am thinking did he rinse properly, did he groom, did he put the cotton wool in his ears to prevent them getting wet?  Of course he did none of these things and I suspect he might not have rinsed properly hence the strong shampoo smell!!  Dad plays golf on a Wednesday so I asked how long he had been gone.  The answer was five hours but "I didn't leave him in his crate, just in the house with the garden door open as it was a sunny day".  I am thinking OMG what state was the house in, is the garden dug up.  All these thoughts about what could have happened are going through my mind... but nothing, nada.  Riley was perfectly good outside his crate and there was nothing destroyed...phew.  It's late now but I have already groomed Riley and we have had a cuddle after which he took himself into his crate where he is now fast asleep with the door of the crate wide open.  I think I will leave it open during the night and if he wants he can come into the bedroom and sleep beside the bed though I have a feeling he will still be in his crate when I get up in the morning.

Wow, six months has passed by so quickly!  Good boy Riley, showing dad the ropes!  Good luck tonight.  I am sure he will do great.
