Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I had never raised my own dog. And for about a year, my husband and I talked about getting a dog for our son. We gave it a lot of thought, and ultimately decided on going with a Labradoodle . We knew going in, it would be a big commitment. I also knew, going in, that ultimately the responsibility of its care would fall on my shoulders. While the first month, made me question my judgment, I can honestly say now what a great addition our puppy has been to our home. Raising a puppy, like raising children, is challenging. But I am hoping that if I put in the time, and I am, I will get a great dog. So far so good.

So nice to read and a Doodle is definitely a great addition to the family!

Wonderful to reach that potty outside milestone! Try hanging some bells on the door-lots of our doodles ring the bells to let us know when they need to go out.  I trained Quincy by ringing them everytime we took him outside and he caught on in short order.  Of course, when Toby rings the bells, praise, praise, treat and then again when he pees!  Can't wait to meet him!

So happy for you...they are a joy and so worth this "FUN" stage!

Everything you said is accurate. The care of the pup most often falls to the mother in the family, but the reward is so worth it... unconditional love from that darling dog! Enjoy your little Toby!
