I am using the usual from the vet but am interested in other applications. I have read that apple cider vinegar or Avon Skin So Soft is good. What do you think? Would that really work in repelling them?
I used frontline from the drug store..and we went up to the lake every weekend this summer.. the neighbors dog had fleas..but "there aint no bugs on me!!!" It worked!!
I agree with F. Parker. Having suffered through the worst flea infestation in the world several years back, I wouldn't trust any of the so-called "natural" remedies. Trust me, having your entire home infested with fleas (to the point that they are biting you in your bed while you sleep) is much worse than any tiny chance of risk from the prescription flea preventatives that you may have read about. Not to mention that fleas can kill a dog. It's rare, but it does happen.
You don't have to buy the topicals like Frontline, etc from the vet. They are non-prescription, and you can buy them on-line or from the pet supply stores cheaper.
I don't think those things are very effective. In humans deet is the only repellent that is effective for any length of time. Avon's Skin So Soft is not.
